Forests, moors and white lands in Brossacais

Etang des belettes
A short circular walk around the Etang des Belettes at the edge of Rioux-Martin village. This walk is perfect for families with children and for dog walkers. Accessible all seasons, it is a great walk to reconnect with nature.
Rioux Martin circular pond loop
At the start of the hike, you will pass through a pretty little village with a remarkable church. The hike continues along a small stream that leads to a very large pond, then through a wooded area, and the end of the hike offers beautiful views of the countryside.
In the Bois Charmants woods - Boscamnant
A gravel and sand track winds its way along the hillsides, which resemble small mountains. The dense forest cascades down the gentle slopes and stretches as far as the eye can see, accompanying walkers into a "wild wilderness".

Discover the kaolin (white clay) quarries, horses and arboretum belonging to the village children in a preserved natural environment.
Around Montchaude
This hike can be enjoyed in all seasons, with paths that are very passable in winter and shaded in summer. Discover the sites of Montchaude, the 16th-century castle, the church rebuilt between 1895 and 1898, the Chapel of Saint-Mathurin lost in the middle of the woods, and many viewpoints along the way.
The pond turtle trails in Saint-Aigulin - Southern route
The commune of Saint-Aigulin offers a superb hiking trail through the Double forest, its moors, ponds and village. Biodiversity abounds here, particularly in the summer months, with a heritage species: the European pond turtle. Numerous educational panels are available along the route to learn more about the local flora and fauna. Don't forget your camera!
Saint-Maigrin Woods
A beautiful hike through vineyards and woods. Pleasant in summer. A little damp in winter after the point (10) but passable.
Interpretive trail at La Magdeleine
Discover the rich fauna and flora of the Né valley in this Natura 2000 classified area - a nature protected zone with many diverse and protected species and plants, such as the European Mink (a little known species near extinction) and wild orchids, as well as many other species naturally found in a preserved environment.
Criteuil-la-Magdeleine loop
Starting from the car park at the church in Criteuil-la-Magdeleine, the route runs alongside the Né and Collinaud rivers and crosses the vineyards of the Grande Champagne region. Points of interest along the route include: the Church of Saint-Macrin - Saint Jean Baptiste, the Chapel of La Magdeleine, beautiful wine estates, the wash house, the drinking water pumping station, the remains of a watermill and windmill, and various viewpoints.
Lagorce - Maine Pommier - Route No. 1
A very beautiful walk in the woods, with very little road. Accessible on foot or by mountain bike.
Route of Les Meulières de Claix and Les Chaumes du Vignac
The hike to the Meulières de Claix and Chaumes du Vignac sites is located south-west of Angoulême, 20 minutes by car via the RN 10. A protected site for its flora and fauna, it is a limestone plateau offering beautiful views of the Claix valley. The hike is beautiful and offers varied landscapes alternating between rocky areas (Meulières and Chaumes du Vignac), forests, vineyards, hamlets, historical monuments and cultivated plains.
Circuit de la Motte
The commune of Ambleville is crossed by the Collinaud, a stream tributary of the River Né, which includes wash-houses typically found in this area of Grande Champagne. During your walk you will have the chance to discover La Motte, a hamlet in this commune. Take the time to admire the rolling countryside and La Motte wash-house.
This walk can be enjoyed with all the family, because children will find it fun to cross the Collinaud by way of the stepping stones.
Échourgnac circular loop
A lovely country walk through unspoilt countryside. Along the way, you will discover the Étangs de la Double ponds, which provide a wild and unspoilt refuge for animals. Take a break at the Cistercian Abbey of Notre-Dame de Bonne Espérance and enjoy the famous "Trappe Échourgnac" cheese.
Circuit du Dolmen
Situated at 25m altitude - the river Né and the Motte stream are the principal water courses which cross the locality.
In certain places there are excellent views towards and from the village, the Dolmen, of the vineyards, the landscape of the Grande Champagne and surrounding villages. In every season you can discover a certain charm and appeal in St. Fort.
