Aroffe walks

This easy little route, straddling the Vosges and Meurthe-et-Moselle departments, will take you through woods and farmland in rolling, bucolic countryside. Enjoy the fresh air among the ploughed fields and pastures in this little-visited region.

Through fields and woods to visit the villages of Vandeléville and Battigny to the west of the Saintois region. Castle, churches, wash house, fountain and calvaries.

A pleasant walk around the Métay and the Favières leisure centre, with magnificent scenery.

A circular walk starting from Dolcourt to Favières, offering a stunning view at Le Dahout, passing through Saulxerotte and returning via the Bois de Selaincourt to the Croix du Capitaine, ending at the Saint-Jean de Cotance Chapel.

Club Vosgien route where you will see crosses and calvaries, an altarpiece, a chapel, a church and an ancient Roman road, through the shimmering countryside and deciduous woods.

Along small roads and country lanes across the plain to the west of Sion Hill, visiting the villages of Eulmont, Dommarie, Thorey Lyautey and Étreval, before returning to Chaouilley.

The inspiring hill is rich in history and geology and is a geographical landmark in this area known as the Saintois.

This superb route offers an exceptional view of the Saintois and Xaintois regions from the Monument Barrès, as well as beautiful panoramas throughout the route, which is exclusively on footpaths. It also allows you to discover the very pretty medieval village of Vaudémont and its ramparts.

From the valley floor, right by the Brénon, up to the top of the plateau where the view opens out onto a distant horizon, this peaceful walk offers a wide variety of landscapes.

From Praye, head to the Maurice Barrès monument via the Bois de Plaimont. Visit the village of Vaudémont. Return via the plain, passing beneath the hill and the village of Chaouilley. Return to Praye via the path halfway up the hillside, passing beneath the statue of the Virgin Mary.

This stage follows the southern part of the Eurovélo 19 "La Meuse à vélo" route (1,050 km from Langres to Rotterdam). From Neufchâteau, we follow the meandering Mouzon, a tributary of the Meuse. We then leave it behind, taking less travelled but more direct roads that avoid the meanders of the Meuse. We rejoin the EV19 just before the "Source de la Meuse" site, on the Langres plateau crossed by three watersheds. With the plateau reaching a height of 450 m, the gradients are not significant, but on arrival, you will need to make a little effort to climb the promontory on which the Citadel of Langres is perched. Your reward: a splendid view at dusk!

A lovely walk, offering remarkable views over the Mouzon valley. The route is straightforward for the majority of the walk. The only slightly technical sections requiring your attention are: - Near the landmark (3), the stony descent towards the Grotte de l’Enfer, - After the waypoint (8), the descent down the rudimentary staircase, facing the drop, is a little dizzying.

Follow in the footsteps of Victor Hugo's ancestors on a beautiful trail offering magnificent views in a varied landscape of pastures, crops and forests.This route has little shade, so take care in hot weather.

Starting from Allain, descend into a small valley in the heart of the forest, isolated from the noise of everyday life, where you can see wild boar piglets. Continue along the valley to a magnificent large oak tree and the Chahalot resurgence, which during high water periods bubbles with clear water from the Aroffe before flowing into the Bouvade. Return via a path lined with periwinkles and pass by a mirabelle plum orchard where you can see deer feasting.

A rich and varied route, starting from the Joan of Arc Basilica, taking you to see the strange, twisted beech trees of Sionne (much less famous, and therefore less popular than the Faux de Verzy), through beautiful, unspoilt forests and a few pastures, to discover a well-hidden dolmen. The tour concludes with a visit to Domrémy-la-Pucelle.

With the Jubilee Year of Hope, since November 2024, our Catholic Church in the Vosges has developed a proposal: "Saprée Vadrouille, travel journal for paths of hope", with three issues per year focusing on liturgical times and the saints of the Vosges.Several itineraries are proposed in the Vosges as local pilgrimages and paths of hope. This is an opportunity to rediscover our region and our local saints throughout the Vosges department. Each itinerary can be done independently of the others, at any time of year. "Dans le pays de Jeanne" (In the Land of Joan) is the itinerary proposed in the second issue of "Saprée Vadrouille", which you can discover here.

A short walk in the heart of the forest near Domrémy-la-Pucelle. Greux is a small village near Neufchâteau.

A route to discover the heritage of the wine-growing village of Bulligny, its vineyards, woods and mysterious "blue pond". With a beautiful view of the Côtes de Toul vineyards.

Starting from Mirecourt, this loop is an enjoyable way to discover the heritage and countryside of the Vosges. The route passes through varied landscapes: village lanes, hedged paths, open fields and rivers crossed by charming wooden footbridges. Along the way, you will reach the village of Poussay and then Mazirot. Between nature and heritage, this accessible hike offers beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a half-day outing.

A pleasant walk starting from Ochey, mostly through the woods, allowing you to discover a very pleasant spot, the Fontaine d'Ochey, a pretty turquoise blue resurgence, pouring out a good volume of water at this time of year (early April), but also worth seeing at other times.

A pleasant circular route around the spa town, the racecourse and Vittel Golf Club.

Throughout this walk, you’ll discover two spa towns (Vittel and Contrexéville) and all they have to offer. You’ll also pass through Bulgnéville, Mandres-sur-Vair and Norroy-sur-Vair, before returning to your starting point.

A fairly easy, tree-lined route between two towns renowned for their lakes.

A pleasant, relatively easy circular walk, with a shaded section on the climb up to Maximois and a stretch passing by the Étang de la Neuveville.

A double circular route through the Madon valley to visit the villages of Frolois, Pierreville, Autrey-sur-Madon and Pulligny.

A circular walk starting from Bainville-sur-Madon, through the meadows alongside the River Madon to reach Xeuilley, then along a small road to join the D974 and up the hillside to admire the view over Xeuilley.

Starting from Bainville-sur-Madon, head up the hillside, passing through the Bois Fossé and the Viterne quarry; take a detour via the orientation table to see the impressive quarry. Head down towards Viterne through the woods, passing through the village with its fountain, washhouse and church. Return across the plain, passing through the village of Maizières with its wash house, church and Stations of the Cross.
