On leaving the village of Ochey, head towards Bicqueley. At the village exit sign, you will find the car park on your right.
(S/E). Take the path that passes in front of the recycling bins heading east-northeast. Pass a green waste collection centre and you will arrive at a small road with an old Ochey sign on the left. Turn left towards the pond. After a few metres, look for a red triangle sign on the left and pass in front of a ruin.
(1) With your back to the lake, take the first tarmac road on the right towards the military base hangars. Walk along the base fence and then continue along the orchard towards the D904. At the stop sign, cross the road and follow Chemin des Foins opposite. Continue straight ahead along this path, passing the green hunters' hut after about 1.2 km. Walk another 160 m to reach a three-way junction.
(2) Turn onto the path on the left marked with a blue circle. This path climbs directly up the bend in the white path.
(3) Opposite, you will see a blue round sign pointing to the left. Take the white path downhill to the right. Pass the first white and red sign indicating "Dangerous area, no access during shooting". Continue until you see the second identical sign, then a third.
(4) At the third sign, take the path that branches off to the left at this sign. Continue along this pleasant downhill path until you reach a small stream, where you will see a yellow marker on the ground indicating the cardinal points.
(5) Take the dirt track on the left that follows the stream at the bottom of the valley: a pleasant spot. Walk for about 550m to reach the Fontaine de la Deuille. Magical. We visited on 7 April, when there was quite a lot of water, and we saw other smaller resurgences, but it is not certain that these will be visible in drier periods. However, this walk is worth doing in different seasons.
(6) Go around the Deuille and head towards the footbridge without crossing it. Find the path that runs alongside the Larot stream and follow it for 50 metres.
(7) Look for a red and blue round sign pointing towards Ochey village, then follow the path on the left that goes up into the woods.
(8) After about 300 metres, at the foot of a fairly steep slope, turn left at a 90° angle (stone marker at the intersection) and climb the steep slope. Continue straight ahead to rejoin the white path.
(9) Turn right for 200 metres.
(10) Turn south-southwest (left) onto the straight path. Follow it for 1.3 km, continuing straight ahead until you reach a lone tree in the middle of the crossroads marked with the number 19.
(11) Turn right towards the north-west. After about 150m, you will come to a white path. Take this path on the left and follow it until you reach the D904. Cross (carefully) and follow the path opposite across the field. You will soon see the pond where you started.
(1) Take the same route back to the starting car park (S/E).
