Description of the walk

Car park at Greux, at the junction of the D164 and the D166.

(S/E) Follow theGR®703marked in white and red. You’ll soon reach a three-way junction.

(1) Continue to the right. Pass a quarry on the left and carry on. At the junction, leave theGR® and turn left onto a path. Head up to the right to visit Bermont Chapel.

(2) Head back down the same path and continue to the right. Return to the path at the bottom of the valley and reach a small pond.

(3) Continue along the main path, which stays at the bottom of the valley, and reach the Bois de Brixey.

(4) Climb a fairly steep slope on the right, then, at the top, turn left (it is impossible to continue straight on)
Reach the end of the trench.

(5) Turn left and descend slowly to reach a crossroads with four perpendicular paths.

(6) Turn left onto the clearly marked path and continue to the three-way junction, the original crossroads.

(1) Then follow the outward route in the opposite direction to return to the Greux car park (S/E)..

Notes

Easy route, basic equipment sufficient.
This short two-hour walk presents no difficulty.

Worth a visit

(3) The Bermont Chapel is open to visitors (enquire at the House of Joan of Arc) in Domrémy.
A visit to the Bermont Chapel is quite pleasant but not very picturesque, as the walls have been plastered and the whole place looks too new.

Hello,

In 2: indicate the start of the direct (steep) path leading straight to the chapel from the road.
In 5: mention that the fairly steep slope includes a right-angled left-hand bend.

Signposting is in place: Yellow Triangle. Clearly marked...

An easy, very pleasant walk through dense, well-shaded woodland.
The 7-1 route is particularly pleasant: a wide, grassy path, not straight, with a gentle descent.

I couldn’t load the map, and with just the directions I didn’t dare go any further than the chapel, which is signposted.
In fact, it mentions a quarry on the left that I’ve never seen. The instructions to turn left or right didn’t seem clear to me. I probably would have needed the map, but my computer wouldn’t load the software required to open it.

On the other hand, the area around the walk is lovely; no complaints there.
