A beautiful seaside hike with some unusual sights to discover. While the coastal road from Menton to Ventimiglia is well known, the area below this road offers some little-known geographical and historical curiosities.

Before arriving at the foot of Iceland'sthird highest waterfall, at 118 metres, you will see solidified lava along the entire route, resembling beautiful reddish organ pipes at right angles.

A pleasant forest walk near Tourette-Levens, following part of the GR®51, a section of one of the routes to Santiago de Compostela.

Explore one of the few settlements in this north-western part of Iceland, in the middle of nowhere, and get a glimpse of the local economy.

From the start of this walk, a paved slanting street winds its way at the foot of the Rastel rock massif, offering magnificent views of the old medieval village of Peillon. The entire return trail between the villages of Peille and Peillon, on the western side of Rastel, is a delightful walk through wooded areas.

Calanque d'Aurelle, with its red rocks and turquoise water, is the starting point for our walk. The walk is a series of paths winding through the Mediterranean scrubland among pine trees, mimosas, rosemary and cork oaks. On the return leg, we take the Lentiques ravine. This is theGR® 653A, part of the Way of St James.

A beautiful circular wooded path starting from the village of Thiéry, allowing you to admire the Crête des Charbonnières, then walk along it on the way back. The route is a little long (6 hours including breaks) but does not present any technical difficulties. At the end of the hike, we recommend visiting the village.

Pleasant wooded walk to the west of Saint-André-De-La-Roche. In just a few minutes, you leave the urbanisation of Nice behind for Provençal vegetation of olive trees, fig trees, pines, oaks and cypresses. Beautiful views of the village of Falicon.

Starting from Saint-Martin-du-Var, this short walk along the slopes of La Roquette-sur-Var will take you to this picturesque hilltop village offering views over the Var plain.The return path runs alongside the Vésubie Canal for a few metres.

Located a few kilometres from the coast, this pleasant walk along paved slanting street takes you to Mont Revel, which rises to an altitude of 373 metres. This historic site, which belongs to the municipality of Tourrette-Levens, is known for housing, among other things, the ruins of a square tower and the remains of a postern gate with a loophole, known as the Château des Barbets or Château des Voleurs.

On the middle corniche, a few hundred metres from Eze village, the Chemin Toscane will take you to the magnificent beach at Saint-Laurent-d’Eze. On the way down, you’ll enjoy panoramic views stretching from Cap Mala to the Tête de Chien de la Turbie. The final few metres leading to this pebble beach pass through a shaded woodland, where a small stream offers a refreshing respite.

This walk consists of a return trip along the pebbles of Èze-Bord-de-Mer beach, interspersed with a beautiful circular loop through lush woodland.

Stroll through the narrow streets and old bridges of L'Escarène. Cross the magnificent Paillon National Forest and stop at Berre-les-Alpes to admire the panoramic views and old buildings. The return journey takes you through the forest and its marlstone "canyons". The final path leads to the heart of L'Escarène.

Fancy a bit of exercise or some fresh air between noon and two? This one-hour walk will let you enjoy the fresh air in a wild wooded area below the Larchet Hospital. A complete change of scenery is guaranteed in this wooded valley with its poudingue rock faces – a mixture of pebbles, sand and clay dating from the Pliocene epoch.

Stop, take photos, observe and take breaks. Whatever you do, take the time to appreciate each side of Mont Agel, which offers magical, exceptional panoramic views. To the north are the Mercantour Alps. To the east and south-east are Menton and the Ligurian Riviera. To the west are the Pre-Alps of the Côte d'Azur and the coastline from Nice to Théoule.

An unusual semi-urban hike that begins by taking the maritime sector of La Croisette and the upmarket residential district of La Californie. Then walk along a wild section of the old funicular railway line that linked the lower part of Cannes to the Super Cannes Observatory. Finally, take the path of the old Siagne Canal to the green spaces with their remarkable views.

Far from the glitz of the Croisette, this unusual climb to the historic architectural sites of the funicular railway and the Super-Cannes Observatory takes us back in time. With nature having reclaimed its rights, a change of scenery at the gates of Cannes is guaranteed.

An easy hike along theGR®51, a few kilometres from Nice, offering beautiful views of the Principality of Monaco and the small village of La Turbie, dominated by the Trophée des Alpes.

This beautiful circular starting from Peillon will take you to the summit of Le Rastel, offering you some beautiful views of the Alps during the ascent and, at the summit, a panorama stretching as far as Théoule. This route can also be done in the opposite direction.

A return walk along this little-known, centuries-old path, which is particularly interesting for its diversity. The trail begins in woodland alongside the stream, then winds its way through the rock. You’ll follow the Vésubie canal for a few metres before reaching a series of winding hairpin bends overlooking the Vésubie. Following Storm Alex, the path ends at the Vésubie.

Starting from the Levens road, this route allows you to discover and climb the two mountains via the little-known wooded eastern trails overlooking Tourrette-Levens and its castle. The very pleasant return trail, which is completely deserted, offers a unique panorama of Nice, Cannes and Théoule. Only the pass and the area around the Mont Chauve d'Aspremont fort are frequented by the public.

A few kilometres from Sospel, the village of Moulinet offers beautiful mountain scenery. The end of this circular route follows the wooded, sometimes steep banks of the Bévéra Gorges, located in the Mercantour National Park.

A beautiful semi-urban route that can be enjoyed all year round, linking the magnificent Moscow-inspired Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Nicholas to the wooded Parc Estienne d'Orves, a 15-hectare green oasis in the heart of Nice.

This unique one-way hike (allow for two vehicles) takes you up Mont Arpasse via the little-used south-eastern route. The final stretch is a path nearly 3 km long, sometimes carved into the cliff face, steep and vertiginous, clinging to the mountainous western flank of Mont Arpasse. It was built by the constructors of the Vésubie Canal in the 1870s and offers views of the Var throughout. The section between marker 296 and the finish is reserved for experienced walkers.

This lovely little walk, via the Riou trail, will take you to the banks of a pretty river, La Cagne. Young and old alike can enjoy the deep pools and waterfalls. A geographical curiosity. Starting from the La Villette district, located 2 km west of Cros d'Utelle, on the border between the Var and Vésubie rivers, this very pleasant hike, ideal in spring or for getting back into exercise, offers breathtaking views of these two valleys and Mont Arpasse.

Notre-Dame de Calern, the cave chapel overlooking the small village of Caussols, leaves no one indifferent. Located on the southern slope of the Calern plateau, this place of devotion and fervour is the site of an annual pilgrimage on 15 August.

A challenging hike offering fabulous views of the Italian, Monegasque and French coastlines, preceded by a path that winds through the greenhouse crops of Grimaldi. At the end of the day, the azure waters of Cap Mortala beach (spiaggia di capo Mortala) near your vehicle will offer you a refreshing swim. Despite the unpleasant noise pollution from the A8 motorway on part of this circular route, the Grande Corniche Departmental Park offers exceptional views of both the Mediterranean coastline and the Alps. Fortifications from another century and little-known wooded areas are pleasant to explore.

This unusual route for the region will take you past limestone rocks sculpted by erosion, including a cave chapel which you can visit. You will pass through the facilities of the Côte d'Azur Astronomical Observatory. This loop will then take you on a journey through 2,000 years of history along a Roman road through the woods. The final section, through stone enclosures and old sheepfolds, bears witness to a pastoral past.

A route that takes in the rocky areas near Castel d’Ongrand, before offering views of the wooded Mont Méras massif. The magnificent paved slanting street that leads back offers beautiful views of Mont Ours and the nearby Cime de Baudon.
