Description of the walk

Park near the village square, Place de Nice.

(S/E) Continue for about 100 metres along Avenue Charles de Gaulle, heading east. Turn right atthe first crossroads onto Rue Canavesio, then right onto Rue Famille Arnaldi. About 40 metres further on, turn left to go under the archway and follow Rue Costettes, then take the stairs leading to Rue de Triora. Continue to the right, then turn left onto Rue de l'Authion to reach the cemetery chapel.

(1) Walk along it and pass marker 48 on the right. Follow the direction of Col Linaire through Bois du Pinet, pass marker 258 and reach an intersection.

(2) Continue straight ahead and you will reach the junction with the Pinet track, lined with conifers, where you will find marker 259.

(3) Turn right at almost 180°, negotiate a hairpin bend to the left further on and arrive at a three-way junction.

(4) Keep to the right on the Inciaus track, which is certainly the least pleasant part as it is not wooded. At the bottom of the descent, you will reach the Vallon de l'Afel.

(5) Cross it and continue uphill, then downhill again to reach the Vallon de le Reua.

(6) After another easy climb, pass through Vallon de Bon Pertus to reach a water source.

(7) Continue along the track to reach Baisse de Géréon, a crossroads of several tracks and paths in a beautiful clearing. Marker 251 is located here.

(8) Turn right onto the GR®52A, marked in white and red. Head towards the oratory at the entrance to the forest area. The oratory marks the start of the wooded uphill trail. You will reach a trail intersection. Keep to the right and join the Durasca trail.

(9) Continue in the same direction until you reach marker 245a.

(10) Leave the GR® and take the path on the right, go around the Cime d'Arpèse and rejoin the GR® at the Baisse d'Arpèse marker 244.

(11) Here, begin the long descent and head formarker 243.

(12) Continue straight ahead towards La Brigue, which can be seen in the valley. Follow a few wide hairpin bends and arrive at the crossroads at marker 46, which overlooks La Brigue and its black rooftops.

(13) Continue towards La Brigue on the path, which winds sharply before leading to marker 43. Continue towards the village, passing behind the16th-century Saint-Martin Collegiate Church and the Upper Chapel of the Annunciation. Walk alongside the beautiful ruins of the14th-century castle of the Lascaris lords and reach a small square. Turn left and follow the narrow streets of this authentic village , renowned for its remarkable heritage. Pass a fountain and continue straight ahead on the street opposite. Then turn right onto Rue Jacques Spinelli and continue straight ahead, passing in front of the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs, located at the corner of Place de Nice. Return to the car park (S/E)
