Park in the car park at Entrevaux station (04). Take the Train des Pignes towards Digne-les-Bains, alight at Pont de Gueydan station.Please note: make sure you indicate that you wish to alight at this station, as it is an optional stop.
(S) On leaving Gueydan station, turn right onto the Route d’Entrevaux and walk carefully along the verge until you reach the bridge over the Var.
Important note: the yellow markings are very clear throughout the route.
(1) At the end of the Pont de Gueydan, take the path on the left which winds steeply uphill. Follow the ridge line. There are a few views of the Var to the south. Continue to the Sumaure forest track.
(2) Turn left onto the track and follow the signs for Le Pelau-la Lette-Entrevaux. Continue straight on until the next junction with the sign for Le Pelau-La Lette-Entrevaux.
(3) Leave the track, turn left onto the wooded, uphill path; atthe first junction , keep right and continue along the path, which remains on the ridge. Although well signposted, you may occasionally – though rarely – need to look for the route. To do so, systematically head towards the ridge to find the yellow markings. Continue to the summit of Le Pelau.
(4) Follow the path straight ahead; you will soon reach the Crête de la Lette Ouest marker.
(5) Continue straight ahead towards La Lette until you reach marker 259, a junction of three tracks, then continue towards Crête de la Lette until you reach marker 258.
(6) Take the path on the left and, via a steep climb, reach the summit of La Lette.
(7) Turn back to return to marker 258.
(6) Turn left 180°. Follow the signs for Saraillon – 1h15 – 4 km / Entrevaux – 3h00 – 8.5 km. Walk alongside the fence and take a track that has not been maintained for years. After several hundred metres, rejoin a path and reach a new viewpoint.
(8) Continue to the right along the long, descending path which sometimes runs along the edge of the cliff. Continue to the signpost marked Saraillon.
(9) Turn left towards Entrevaux – 4.5 km – 1 hr 45 mins. This path, running through a pine forest, is in places damaged by fallen rocks blocking the route. Continue to the track.
(10 Head down it to the right. Then pass between two old houses to reach the Chapelle-Saint-Pierre.
(11) Continue to a wayside shrine at the edge of the track. Turn left and follow the descending Route du Brec. Walk past a few houses. You will reach the village of Le Brec.
(12) Take the road here with care. Walk past the campsite and continue to the crossroads marked ‘Le Brec’.
(13) Stay on this road with care, heading towards Entrevaux – 1.5 km – 25 mins. Then continue along the Chemin du Brec. Cross the bridge and continue along the path running alongside the Var.
(14) Enter Entrevaux through thefirst gate, then through a gate with a drawbridge. Walk past the town hall and the square, then leave this medieval town.
(15) Cross the Entrevaux bridge flanked by its two imposing towers and turn left. Follow the pavement and take the steps just after the bridge to reach the station car park. (E)
