The shady southern side of Saint-Hilaire-du-Bois
A very beautiful and pleasant walk. Very shaded, with paths nestled in the woods, tracks and paths under the trees, and lovely stony paths. No difficulty.
The hill with the mills from Mouilleron-en-Pareds
Take a walk on the hill of the mills to discover the remains of the windmills and beautiful views of the low bocage to the north as far as Pouzauges and Saint-Michel-Mont-Mercure and the plain to the south as far as the Forest of Mervent.

The narrow streets of Pouzauges
Take a stroll through the narrow streets and alleyways of Pouzauges. Take your time and don’t forget to look back to admire Pouzauges, known as ‘the Queen of the Haut Bocage’, and its surroundings.
The Bois de la Folie, starting from Pouzauges
Two routes: the Meuniers Route (8 km) and the Abbey Route (7 km), starting from the Bois de la Folie in the Vendée town of Pouzauges.
You can complete them in one go (there is a bit of an uphill climb, though) and have a picnic in the Bois de la Folie (with plenty of tables in the shade) between the two walks. To do this, leave your picnic in the car.
Lay Valley - Saint-Vincent-Puymaufrais

The Lay River flows through part of the Poitevin Marshes and empties into the Atlantic Ocean between La Faute-sur-Mer and L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer.
Herbergement Forest
Located at the intersection of the D137 and D160 roads, near the Quatre Chemins de l'Oie crossroads, the Hérbergement forest offers pleasant trails where you can explore the undergrowth with its variety of tree species. With a bit of luck, you may even spot a deer.
Three-quarters of the route follows a trail that is clearly marked by the ONF (numbered markers).
La Cressonnière and the Chemin des Wagons
An 11th-century church, a stately home, a wash house, a communal lake, the ‘Chemin des Wagons’ and the Château de la Cressonnière… These are just some of the sights you’ll discover as you walk along paths that follow the route of old railway lines or hedgerow-lined tracks through the fields or deep within the Bois des Rochettes. An easy route that can be shortened, extended or altered as you wish. Ideal for families.
At the source of the Grande Maine at Les Herbiers
Walk north of the town of Les Herbiers around the source of the Grande Maine, offering beautiful views and a magnificent park (Château du Landreau).
Les Épesses and the Puy du Fou Park
The circular route starts at Les Épesses and heads towards the Bois des Jarries. After reaching the summit, you will pass through Saint-Mars-la-Réorthe and walk alongside the Puy du Fou Park to return to the starting point.
The walk is not difficult, except in the Bois des Jarries where you need to keep your bearings due to the many paths.
Mont des Alouettes and the Notre-Dame de la Vendée Chapel
An easy walk on Mont des Alouettes, with a short climb at the end. It will allow you to discover the old hamlet of La Maha, the 19th-century Notre-Dame de la Vendée Chapel, and the mills on this hill, which rises to an altitude of 232 metres. Beautiful panoramic views over Les Herbiers and the surrounding area.

The Père de Montfort Cave in the Mervent Forest
From the Saint-Luc roundabout, you will walk along long forest paths to a trail overlooking the Vergnes stream and leading to the Pierre Brune dam. You will then climb stone steps to the Grotte du Père de Montfort and finish the ascent via a wooden staircase. You will then walk along the Mère to the Diet Bridge and join theGR® de Pays de Mélusine, which will take you back to your starting point.
