Departure from the village of St Vincent Puymaufrais, church car park.
(S) Follow theGR®364signs (markings on the lampposts). Turn right into a cul-de-sac and left at the last house, then take the path.
(1) Go down to the river and turn left to follow the path along the riverbank. A well-equipped picnic area is available after a jetty (Moulin de Reynard).
Continue to the Rochette bridge.
Cross the Lay and turn right, follow the houses and, as you leave the village, follow the sign for "La Rochette"
(2) Climb the first path on the left to overlook the river and the bridge.
Go down the very steep path and follow the river, cross a wooden bridge, then find a grassy path. This is crossed by an electric fence, but there is a passage for hikers.
(3) Leave the riverbank and climb up a path leading to "l'Engraisserie" (a few houses).
(4) After the last house, turn right onto a sunken path, following theGR® markings. Follow this path through a chestnut wood. At the exit of the Salle wood, follow a white path to reach a quiet road.
(5) At the road, turn right and walk along the verge.
(6) At the next crossroads, follow the sign for "Le Grand Bateau" opposite. In the distance, you will see the bell tower of the church of Saint-Vincent-Puymaufrais. Continue along the path down towards the Lay valley.
(7) Turn right and walk along the Lay River until you reach the Rochette Bridge.
Cross the river and turn left at the exit to rejoin the path you took at the start and return to the car park (E).
