Park in the car park of the Mervent tourist office near the signposted start of the town's walking and cycling trails.
(S/E) Head back down towards the Mervent dam via Rue de la Vallée. Turn left, cross the dam and take the path (Chemin forestier du Portail) on the left at the end of the bridge. At the first crossroads, turn right and follow the yellow signs.
(1) Cross the D99a, go around the wooden hut, then take the path opposite. Continue straight ahead on the path until you reach a tarmac road called "le Sauzeau".
(2) Turn left at the next crossroads. On the right is the Château de la Citardière, but it is private and not open to visitors.
(3) After 400 metres, turn left onto the yellow-marked trail.
(4) Turn right at the first crossroads. Continue straight ahead at the next crossroads.
(5) Pass near the Arbre du Marinier (Sailor's Tree) before joining the D99A. Then turn right.
(6) At the end of the Pont du Déluge, take the stairs on the left that lead to the Ruisseau des Verreries. Leave the small wooden bridge on your left and continue straight ahead along the stream and then the Mère river to reach the Pierre Blanche car park.
(7) Continue left at the end of the car park. Stay on the white path called "Allée de Pierre Blanche" and join the D99A.
(8) Turn left. Go down to the Mère river and cross the Diet bridge.
(9) 200 metres after the bridge, take the dead-end road on the left (cycle sign for Mervent). Continue along the paved road.
(10) At the Chêne Tord crossroads, turn left towards Mervent.
(11) At the stop sign at the calvary, continue left towards Mervent, then left again onto Rue de la Chapelle at the next crossroads. Before returning to the car park, enjoy the view of the river from the Parc du Château de Mervent on your left, then visit the chapel and its beautiful clock. Return to the car park (S/E).
