Villefontaine, a town in the countryside
Villefontaine suffers from a reputation and image as a suburban town. And yet, as a new town built from the late 1970s onwards, it really is – to borrow Alphonse Allais’s phrase – a town in the countryside! With its ponds, woods, footpaths, copses and greenways, come and discover how urban development has taken place in harmony with nature.

The hike starts from the pretty village of Anthon (from where the Prince of Orange's army set off with Louis le Chalon's troops), passing through the Bois des Franchises and then the site of the battle: Les Férouillères, La Ferme de la Batterie, Les Burlanchères and then on to the ruins of Château de Malatrait.
