Orbessan walks

Starting from Orbessan, this circular route will take you on a journey of discovery through the rural heritage, such as the monumental fountain in Orbessan and the working windmill in Durban with its bread oven and bakery. There are some beautiful views of the Gers countryside and, in Durban, a 360° panorama. There is a bit of tarmac but very little traffic.

Starting from the rather charming village of Ornézan, the walking trail takes you up through the woods to the higher ground, offering lovely views of the rolling hills of the Gers. A pleasant little walk.

This walk, organised by the Monferran Plaves festival committee, will take place on Sunday 8 October 2023. Suitable for everyone, including families, with participants walking at their own pace, this 8 km walk offers a route alternating between paths, trails and roads, with a cumulative elevation gain and loss of approximately 160 metres. It can be shortened, if necessary, by returning to the village after 5 km, at the marker (6) on the map. A partnership has been established with the Gers Cancer League as part of the ‘Pink October’ campaign to support breast cancer prevention and the fight against the disease. A voluntary contribution of at least €3, to be donated to the League, will be requested at the start. Refreshments will be available at the marker (6) on the map.

The path you are about to take linked the bastide of Pavie to the hamlet of Besmaux, which was only a modest seigneury until François de Monlezun, like other Gascons, left to seek his fortune in Paris.

This walk in the hills above Pavie, a charming little village near Auch, will allow you to discover the Gers countryside and, on a clear day, enjoy a superb view of the Pyrenees.

A loop with varied landscapes alternating between paths, tracks and trails. This route is designed to be educational, with each kilometre punctuated by a message about respect, difference, tolerance and secularism, making it an educational trail to share with children. At the start, you can admire the Cistercian church of Saint-Sauveur and, higher up, the abbey house (private property). The rest of the walk is a classic country hike where you will discover the hillsides of the Gers, the Lauze valley, the unmissable duck farm and, if you are lucky, three little donkeys will come to say hello. This route is very well signposted (yellow).

Labéjan, a pretty little village serving as the starting point for a circular route featuring some steep climbs and gentle descents. Beautiful views of the Pyrenees on a clear day.

At a place called Le Chalet, you will discover an exceptional panorama of the Pyrenees and the village. The Bois de la Paguère is a haven of coolness on summer days. Further on, before reaching the Domaine des Claux, the Bois de Labesse and the valley you will walk along are also places of beauty and serenity. A quick visit to Castelnau-Barbarens is a must before you leave.

At the start of this route, you will have a beautiful view of the Arrats valley, a narrow valley bordered by hillsides, themselves composed of ridges and valleys. This route takes you to Saint-Guiraud, a village annexed to Castelnau in 1821. On your return to the village, you will discover magnificent panoramic views of the countryside, the Pyrenees mountain range and neighbouring villages from the ridge.

The Ludovic Lapeyriere Estate Trail is a botanical trail for discovering the local flora, fauna and landscapes.

A beautiful hike between rivers, woods, meadows and fields around Simorre. The first part follows the Gimone Valley, along fields and through woods, then returns along the ridges with beautiful panoramic views.

A beautiful loop with very pleasant paths on the edge of the forest. Beautiful panoramic views await you, including a superb view of the village of Simorre and its fortified church. On the circuit, you will find a sculpture by Japanese artist Teruhisa symbolising the roof.

The ‘sentier des limacs’ or ‘sentier des limaces’ trail. A circular walk through rolling countryside with varied landscapes and beautiful views of the Pyrenees on a clear day. Half of the walk is on tarmac roads with very little traffic.
