Five lakes around Kastelberg
This hike will take us on a day-long journey to discover some of the most beautiful lakes in the Vosges, four of which are nestled in remarkable glacial cirques.
From the Étang de Machais to the Rainkopf via the Blanchemer and La Lande lakes
Where the ridge splits in two, one towards the Grand Ballon and the other towards the Grand Ventron, the Rainkopf offers an exceptional 360° panorama. There are many points of interest along the route, including Lac de Blanchemer and its floating peat bog, Lac de La Lande and its dam, Chaume du Firsmiss, the beautiful Machais peat bog, the glacial cirques and their scree slopes, and views of the Vosges and Alsace peaks and the Fecht and Thur valleys.
Kastelberg snowfield trail
A magnificent, fairly easy hike on high moorland with sweeping views. From the summit of Kastelberg, you can see the main peaks of the Vosges and, on a clear day, the Alps.
Tour of Lac des Corbeaux from Haut des Bluches
Lac des Corbeaux is a beautiful little mountain lake that attracts many visitors, especially in summer. It is very easy to walk around with the family in an idyllic setting.
At the start, the Haut des Bluches campsite also offers superb tree house rentals. A giant zip line also passes right over our heads.
In short, it's not to be missed.
Walk around the Bresse
From La Bresse (centre), this is an easy 6-hour hike around the beautiful Hautes-Vosges valley.
From Breitzouse to Lac de la Lande
Walk along the Vosges ridges down to Lac de la Lande. This walk follows the Hautes Vosges stubble trails among Vosges cows, passing not far from the farmhouse inns of Breitzousen, Fershmuss and Schmargult. Further down, through the shady beech and spruce woods, you reach Lac de la Lande, an ideal spot for a picnic. The very reasonable elevation gain of 250 m over 9.5 km means that this hike is not particularly difficult.
06/02/2023: Hiking is prohibited until further notice by municipal decree due to rock and stone falls on theGR®531.
Schlucht - Hohneck - Lac de La Lande- Chitelet- Small pass
A beautiful snowshoe hike from the Col de la Schlucht.
La Bresse par le Lac des Corbeaux et l'Étang de Sèchemer
Randonnée en raquettes (ou à pied en été) en partant du camping du haut des Bluches ; montée vers le Lac des Corbeaux et retour par l'Étang de Sèchemer.
Circuit of the 6 lakes around Hohneck
A long hike around the third highest peak in the Vosges mountains and the highest in the Vosges department, following six lakes.
The route offers beautiful views and all types of terrain (paths, roads, trails, forest, clearings, alpine pastures, etc.).
This is a very difficult hike for experienced hikers only (length, duration and significant elevation gain).
Not to be attempted in winter; best done in late spring, summer or early autumn.
Hohneck/Altenweiller Lake/Rothenbachkof
A beautiful descent!
But then a beautiful climb back up!!!
Magnificent scenery and lots of flowers to admire in early July... and enjoy tasting local produce at the Steinwasen farm inn...
The Hohneck from Mittlach via the rocky path
A very beautiful hike, certainly long, but very pleasant from the village of Mittlach towards Hohneck with a short detour via the rock trail.
You can still see the tourist spots accessible by vehicle that bring you back to civilisation, but you quickly escape them to find the peace and quiet of the mountains.
Please note: this hike is not possible in winter (see practical information below)
Blanchemer Lake
Discover a charming little lake of glacial origin, dammed in 1959 to produce electricity. A route that combines beautiful scenery with learning about the power of water.
Five Lakes Bivouac
Five lakes, two waterfalls, a peat bog and beautiful views to feast your eyes on.
La Bresse: Tour of the Chajoux Valley
A beautiful getaway in the heights of Bresse and the Chajoux Valley. Superb panoramic views, especially at Les Champis. Lake Lispach, the beautiful Rouge Feigne peat bog, and Grouvelin are the highlights, but every turn in the trails and paths will make you love this picturesque region of the Hautes-Vosges even more.
Between passes and rocks around Lac des Corbeaux
This magnificent circular hike starting from La Bresse will allow you to discover an infinite variety of landscapes: Lac des Corbeaux, Étang de Sèchemer, Col de la Vierge, the Roche du Lac viewpoint (after two mountain huts) to reach Col du Brabant and its ski area, and finally head back to La Bresse via a splendid route through the Planot-Paris Arboretum. Classified as difficult solely due to its length: 22 km.
The Hohneck Lakes
A beautiful, challenging hike for experienced hikers.
This route is not accessible in winter. The route is closed between (8), (9), (10) and (11) from 1 November to 30 April 2022 (Prefectural decree of 18 May 2022).
Hohneck - Batteriekopf
Circular starting from the bottom of Hohneck (Paquis des Fées) which descends to Lac de Schiessrothried then Lac de Fischboedle, climbs back up via Kerbholz, crosses the peaks of Rainkopf, Rothenbachkopf and Batteriekopf. Lovely views of various other lakes (Kruth-Wildenstein, Blanchemer, de la Lande) and the Alps if the weather is good.
Hohneck - Altenweiher Lake
This route will allow you to discover the landscapes of the Hohneck massif with beautiful views of the Munster valley and you may even spot chamois on the slopes of the snowfield trail.
Please note that some sections of this hike are particularly difficult, especially the descent from Rainkopf and the ascent from Séestaedtle to Kerbholz. Avoid this route in wet weather, as the rocks are particularly slippery and a fall could be fatal.
From Lac de Blanchemer to Lac de Longemer
Second stage of this hike with bivouac. This time, Lac Lalande, Lac de Retournemer, Cascade Charlemagne and Cascade de Retournemer will be on your route, allowing you to discover magnificent colours.
A loop around Kastelberg via Wormsawald
This varied and challenging loop, winding its way through the stubble fields and forests of the Vosges, offers beautiful views of the lakes and Alsace on one side and Lorraine on the other. You may even be lucky enough to spot some chamois. Some difficult sections are reminiscent of the Sentier des Roches.
06/02/2023: Hiking prohibited until further notice by municipal decree due to rock and stone falls on theGR®®531.
From Lake Longemer to Lake Blanchemer
The first stage of a two-day bivouac hike with an overnight stay at Lac de Blanchemer, passing by Lac du Lispach, which is reminiscent of a Canadian landscape, and the Machais peat bog.
Difficulty and beautiful views sum up this first stage.
Tour of Lake Blanchemer
A short walk that allows you to discover a magnificent lake covering an area of approximately 6 hectares, with a floating bog, in a majestic setting at the foot of Rainkof and the ridges that mark the border between the Vosges and Alsace.
