(S) From the Chalet de Rouge Mousse, follow the road downhill and head towards Lac des Corbeaux (west-south-west). The route is a gentle slope.
(1) At Lac des Corbeaux, at the far end of the car park on the right, take a forest track towards La Bresse viathe GR®533(marked with a Green Rectangle). Continue to the Route du Lac.
(2) Take the road on the left, then a few steps further on, on the right, join the Green Rectangle forest track; carry on straight ahead at the next junction, staying on the same road.
(3) At the end of the path, leave the forest; opposite the tennis courts, turn left onto the road. Follow it for about 250 m.
(4) At the right-hand bend, leave theGR®533, which branches off to the left, and follow the ‘Sentier du Textile’ marked with a Red Triangle. Cross the Moselotte and continue along the road until you reach the Route du Hohneck (D34). Turn left a few dozen metres along the road.
(5) Cross the road (take care) and join a path on the right between the Hôtel des Corbeaux and the Chalet des Cyclistes. Begin a gentle climb and head towards La Roche Beuty (north-east).
(6) At the end of the path, on Rue du Bruleux, turn right and immediately take a path on the left next to a house’s driveway. Continue uphill through the forest. After the path curves right then left, above La Roche Beuty, emerge from the forest.
(7) Join theGR®533again (marked with Green Rectangles). Continue eastwards along a section of track that is not suitable for vehicles.
At the next junction, turn right towards the Moyenmont Lodges to join a path heading due east at the end of the driveway.
(8) At the end of the path, still on theGR®533, you’ll come to a wider path; take this and continue to the right towards the east via Pré Jacquot, heading for the small pass of the Étang.
(9) At the small pass of L’Étang (where there is a chalet), carry straight on (still on theGR®533) towards Les Champis via the Chemin de la Pinquançoire. Ignore the side paths.
(10) As you emerge from the forest, the path opens out onto the Champis moorland; continue along the path until you see the Champis chalet (E).
