Access: Vallée de la Vologne via the D34D.
Parking at the Blanchemer bridge, at the intersection of the D34D and the Lac de Blanchemer road, opposite the power station.
You can continue by car along the small road to the edge of the lake, reducing the walk by about 45 minutes.
(S/E) From the car park, turn right at the stream and take the Blue Triangle marked trail which goes up the valley and leads you to the lake.
(1) From the eastern end, go around the lake on the right until you reach a path branching off to the right.
(2) Turn right onto this Blue Triangle marked path until you reach Chemin du Grand Bougre. Turn left onto this path (marked with a Yellow Cross). Follow it until you reach the first path on the right (however, you can continue straight ahead on Chemin des Bougres).
(3) Take the path that climbs steeply to the right (marked with a yellow disc). At the top, the path runs to the left, below and parallel to the ridge road on your right. View between the trees over Lac de Blanchemer. The path widens and joins Chemin du Grand Bougre further on.
(4) At the crossroads, turn left (yellow disc) onto the tarmac road (Chemin des Chaumes) and continue to thefirst bend.
(5) In the bend, turn left onto the path (yellow disc) which leads to Lac de Blanchemer and its shelter.
(6) At the lake, turn right to find the path you took on the way there, and follow it in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).
