Mortagne-sur-Sèvre walks

An easy walk. A mix of small roads, tracks and various paths. Fairly shaded: the Chemin du Port is very pleasant. Warning! The proximity of the Sèvre Nantaise stream means this walk may be difficult or even impossible during periods of high water or flooding.

Rochard is a tourist village located in the commune of Mortagne-sur-Sèvre. The village has picnic areas and is crossed by the Sèvre river.

This hike begins with a series of small roads with no traffic and paths to Mortagne-Sur-Sèvre, then returns along the Sèvre river as much as possible, i.e. almost all the time, except at the end to return to the starting point.

Superb walk along paths beside the Sèvre Nantaise, which you cross via two unusual crossings, and visit the pretty village of Mallièvre.

A pleasant walk from the Pont du Carteron to Lac de Ribou, following the Moine, the motorway and the campsite. Return via the dam.

Discover the Moine, a calm river that winds through a green landscape. It is hard to believe today that it was once the most polluted river in France. On the route: a water mill, a windmill, a stream, a tributary of the Moine, and a botanical trail.

This hike is not particularly difficult, except for some very wet sections (at the bottom of the fields) in winter. The route is easy to follow, mostly along the edge of the lake.

An easy walk through the countryside and along the shores of Lac du Verdon. A good warm-up before walking around the lake.

The circular route starts at Les Épesses and heads towards the Bois des Jarries. After reaching the summit, you will pass through Saint-Mars-la-Réorthe and walk alongside the Puy du Fou Park to return to the starting point. The walk is not difficult, except in the Bois des Jarries where you need to keep your bearings due to the many paths.

Set off to explore ancient mills and the Grotte à Brunet cave along this wild trail. This 9 km walk offers many points of interest along the river. /! Due to a rockfall and the potential risk of further rockfalls, the Les Bords de Sèvre au Longeron hiking trail is closed to traffic at Gallard, between (4) and (5). This traffic ban is valid until further notice /!

This is not the Calvary route, but there are many calvaries along this route between the countryside and the riverbank. The route includes as many paths as possible and a few very peaceful minor roads when there is no other choice.

This large circular route can be completed in a long day. It is part of a series of circular routes of varying lengths that allow you to discover the magnificent Sèvre Nantaise valley between Clisson and Mortagne-sur-Sèvre. This section starts at the Moulin de la Roche in the commune of Tiffauges and goes to the foot of Mortagne, returning by different paths but always favouring the banks of the Sèvre.

Walk north of the town of Les Herbiers around the source of the Grande Maine, offering beautiful views and a magnificent park (Château du Landreau).

Starting from Tiffauges and its feudal castle ruins, we set off along the beautiful Sèvre stream to the south of Le Longeron. The return journey is initially along small roads and then along paths again.

This circular route crosses the Torfou countryside and runs alongside the Sèvre Nantaise stream. It offers diverse landscapes with rivers and ponds, then a path passing by the Pierre Tournisse and offering a view of the Château de Barbe Bleue, so nicknamed because of its most infamous resident, Gilles de Rais.

A beautiful loop, passing by two beautiful bodies of water, around Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges and Saint-André-de-la-Marche, forming the commune of Sèvremoine, alternating between main roads (very few), small roads, dirt tracks for tractors, and a few footpaths.

A lovely walk featuring stream crossings and passing by large bodies of water such as the Étang de Green Cross. You’ll have the chance to discover the largest standing stone in Anjou. On site, you’ll find the legends surrounding this imposing menhir, explained on information panels.

The Èvre, the river that flows through the Mauges region before joining the Loire near Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, provides a pleasant setting for walks through vibrant farmland. La Bouëre de l'Èvre is a lovely lake that has been developed for leisure and fishing; it is accessible on foot from the village, about 800m away.

A long walk around Trémentines, along the Èvre, starting with the Sentier Végétal de l'Èvre, then along paths and small roads that wind around farms, fields and properties, ending with the streets, alleys and cul-de-sacs of Trémentines.

Walk in and around Trémentines from the hamlet of L’Étang: head down towards the Old Bridge, then follow the meandering course of the River Èvre, go round the ruins of Château de la Forêterie and return via the Étang de la Florancière.
