(S/E) Start the walk by leaving the town via its streets. Take Rue de l’Étoile to Rue d’Anjou. At Rue d’Anjou, first turn right then left for 50 m to take Rue des Aubépines. At the end of this street, take Rue des Mauges to the roundabout.
(1) At the roundabout, take Rue de la Ferronnière to the left. Go straight through the roundabout. At the end of the street, first turn left then right to reach Rue du Bas Saint-Léger. At the end of this street, turn left. Finally, leave the town by taking the small underpass that goes under the four-lane road. Then follow the track until you reach a “proper” road.
(2) Take this road on the right and follow the Ruisseau de la Forêt. Take care as you continue along this road and go through the two roundabouts. At the second roundabout, turn left towards Le May-sur-Êvre. Follow the signs for “La Poissardière” or the cycle route to Beaupréau. Follow the road for just over 500 m. Watch out for cars.
(3) Take the road branching off to the left heading due east, following the recommended cycle route. There is also a sign indicating the hamlet of “la Plaisance” for 500 m.
(4) Just before crossing the first stream, take the path branching off to the right. Follow the Ruisseau de l’Épinette. The path is much more pleasant for walkers from here. At a junction, continue straight on along the stream, even if this means going through a gate (do not take the path on the right leading up towards the farm).
(5) You will come out onto a road; follow it to the right. At the junction, take the road straight ahead towards “La Trollière”. Pass in front of Le Plessis and Le Tillot.
(6) Just before La Trollère farm, take the path branching off to the right, pass the barn and continue along the path running alongside a field.
(7) Just after crossing the second stream (Ruisseau du Chiron), cross the road leading from Saint-Léger to Le May. The junction has been recently rebuilt and may not correspond exactly to the map. Pass behind the wayside shrine. At the farm, take the road on the left for 300 m towards "La Petite Rivière".
(8) Take the path on the right heading south. Please note that this path is not shown on the map. 400 m further on, it turns right and joins the road. Take the road to the left for about 250 m.
(9) Just before the shed, the path branches off to the right. Follow it for 500 m, then go through the gate on the left. Head towards the Ruisseau du Chiron and follow this path.
(10) At the end of the path, turn left for 100 m, then turn left again and head towards Saint-Léger, passing close to La Coudraie where you’ll rejoin the road to follow.
(11) Take the path on the right towards the water tower, which is easily visible (do not continue on to the main Rue de l’Étoile). Continue straight ahead, then turn left into the small park. Head towards the pond. Walk around the pond if you feel like it, otherwise head straight back to the starting point (S/E).
