Start from the Étang des Karuns car park.
(S/E) Take the path towards the forest, heading north-west.
(1) Join theGRP® Sèvre et Maine (yellow and red markings) which runs alongside a campsite. Cross a road with a cross and head for the Château de la Barbinière.
(2) At the castle, turn left and cross the railway line. Turn left about 500 metres further on and continue, leaving the access road to La Guérivère on your left. Pass under the A87 motorway and head towards the banks of the Sèvre Nantaise. Cross a stream and reach a road.
(3) Follow it to the right to reach Moulin Guy.
(4) Cross the river again and continue along the path that turns right and goes up to the Route du Plessis cross.
(5) Turn right, reach the railway line and follow it on the right
(6) At the end of the bend, leave the road and take the path on the left that winds towards the Sèvre Nantaise. Turn sharply left, pass under the motorway and then under the Barbin Viaduct and join the river.
(7) Continue straight ahead to follow the Sèvre Nantaise.
(8) In the left-hand bend after the place called Le Domaine, turn right and head towards Buchet.
(9) Turn right to take the ford and follow the path to the footbridge. Cross it, continue straight ahead and go up to the road, which you cross. Almost opposite, take the path that leads back to the car park, following L'Étang des Karuns (S/E).
. Perhaps it would be a good idea to install safety railings on one side or the other for the safety of walkers.
