Around Sèvremoine

A beautiful loop, passing by two beautiful bodies of water, around Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges and Saint-André-de-la-Marche, forming the commune of Sèvremoine, alternating between main roads (very few), small roads, dirt tracks for tractors, and a few footpaths.

Description of the route

Depart from the Parc de la Croix Verte car park, on the edge of the D91.

(DA) From the back of the car park, take the track and follow the Étang de la Croix Verte pond on your left until you reach the corner.

(1) Continue along the path opposite until you reach the road.

(2) Turn left onto the cycle path and follow it to thesecond roundabout.

(3) Take the road on the right towards the waste collection centre and continue straight on until you reach the D63.

(4) Cross it carefully, first turning left then right, and take the path that runs along the edge of the woods and a pond. At the hamlet, turn right and take a path on the right, a few metres before the farm at a place called Chêne Souche.

(5) Take the track on the right, cross a road and continue straight ahead. Cross the Avresne river, then continue on the tarmac road until you reach a crossroads.

(6) Turn right and, 250 m further on, take the carriage road on the left and continue to the next fork after about 250 m.

(7) Leave the road, which becomes a private road, turn right, head into the fields, and reach the factory, recognisable by its large silos.

(8) Turn left onto the path, which becomes hollow.

(9) At the road, turn right, then quickly take thefirst path on the left and follow it to the next junction.

(10) Turn right under the trees, then continue along the road. Pass the hamlets of Merveille and La Guillerie and continue to the next crossroads.

(11) Take the road on the right, then immediately after, take the road towards La Chapellerie. Pass the hamlet and continue straight on until you reach Les Petites Landes.

(12) Turn left. Pass La Ménardière and La Felixière, and gradually enter the town of Saint-Macaire. Opposite No. 35, turn left onto Rue Monseigneur Joseph Pasquier and follow it to the end.

(13) Turn left and follow this main road (D91) for about a kilometre until you reach La Blinière.

(14) Take the road on the right towards La Bodinière. Pass through the hamlet and continue along the grassy path until you reach a road.

(15) Turn right for 200 metres, then right again immediately after passing Auberivière, until you reach a crossroads.

(16) Turn right and follow the main road (D147) for about a kilometre until you reach the next crossroads.

(17) Take the road on the right towards Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges, then the grassy path on the left, just before the first houses in the town and just after passing under the high-voltage power lines.

(18) At the roundabout, take the cycle path opposite for 200 metres, then turn left onto Rue du Moulin Chauveau. Head into the industrial estate, then turn right at the next junction until you reach the end of Rue de l'Industrie.

(19) Turn right onto Rue des Alouettes, then continue along a path for several kilometres until you return to the town of Saint-André de la Marche via Rue du Bois Milot.

(20) At the roundabout, turn left onto Rue des Mauges and follow it until you find Rue des Chênes on the right.

(21) Follow this street, then, just after No. 9, take the paved path on the left. Enter the park, pass the picnic tables and the small playground, and reach the lake, passing to the left of the school. Walk along the lake on the left-hand side until you reach the road. If you have enough time, you can walk around the lake on the left-hand side.

(22) Opposite the church, turn right onto Rue Augustin Vincent, then continue along Rue du Sacré Cœur for about 100 metres.

(23) Turn left onto Rue de la Gatine, then right onto Allée du Prieuré, and left between numbers 1 and 2. Keep right until you reach Rue l'Ermitage, first turn right then left, and continue to the end of Rue du Manoir.

(24) Turn left onto Rue de la Cerclair and continue for about 50 metres, then turn right onto the D158, Rue du Calvaire.

(25) At the roundabout, turn right, take thethird exit onto the road that goes left (construction zone, subject to change over time), which runs alongside the D91 on the right-hand side. Just before the telecommunications pylon, take the road on the right. This runs alongside the 4x4 carriageway and ends with a rather steep descent, so take care, as the fairly steep descent leads directly onto the road. Don't be surprised by the gravel, which can increase your braking distance.

(26) Turn right and pass La Cerclaie. At the crossroads, turn left, pass La Néraudière, and take thefirst path on the right.

(27) At the road, turn right onto the cycle path for 100 metres, then continue left onto the path opposite La Chalouère. You will reach Parc Marie-Claire Coiffard after about one kilometre.

(28) At the fork, turn right and head to the Parc de la Croix Verte car park (S/E).
