The Mas-d'Azil dolmens trail
Le Mas-d'Azil is a site rich in prehistoric remains. This trail takes in three very well-preserved dolmens, while offering a fine view of the Ariège Pyrenees and surrounding hills.
Crêtes des Bordes
A short and pleasant walk along the ridges, facing the Pyrenees. The climb is a little steep at the start, but accessible with good footwear (less experienced walkers should avoid muddy periods).
The Bois de Marsoulies in Campagne-sur-Arize

Loop around Montfa
A beautiful hike on the Plantaurel massif which, from the village of Monfa, will take you on well-marked trails with beautiful climbs to discover surprising local habitats, beautiful views, the Roc du Cor, the Les Moulis Ecomuseum, the hamlet of Camarde, and the Couminge dolmen. You may see herds of geese, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses.
The hillsides north of Carla-Bayle
This hike, an opportunity for a beautiful walk in the countryside through woods and fields, will allow you to discover Carla-Bayle, an artists' village about 50 kilometres south of Toulouse, at the end of the route.
Circuit from Notre-Dame de Montaut to Montbrun-Bocage
A family walk on well-maintained and marked trails through forests, pastures and varied landscapes, with a view of the Pyrenees from the ridge. This route allows you to discover a rich heritage: the village with its half-timbered houses, a ruined castle, an outdoor sculpture exhibition, and more. The loop begins or ends, depending on your choice, at Lac de Bouydou, a fishing lake with pontoons, picnic tables and a barbecue. This route can be done in either direction.

This hike takes place mainly on agricultural and forest tracks with beautiful views of the Pyrenean foothills. Contrazy is a hamlet that you will only discover when you see the sign, as it is nestled in its green surroundings. Beautiful renovated farms, a remarkable church, a street decorated with flowers. On the way back, don't miss the unusual Notre-Dame de la Goutte chapel in Montardit.
Around Cadarcet
A peaceful walk through a small village, between fields, woods and village paths, easily accessible from the greenway. A circular route with easy parking in front of the village school/town hall.
From Lescure to Rimont via Clot du Pau
In the heart of nature, through the forest of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Nature Park, climb the ridge from Lescure to Rimont and overlook the Little Pyrenees with a magnificent view of Mont Valier and the Montcalm massif. Turn around and admire the rolling landscapes of the Séronnais, Arize, Couserans and Volvestre valleys.
The Argain tour in Montesquieu-Volvestre
The Volvestre inter-communal tourist office offers a marked and secure route.
You will appreciate the calm and serenity of the hamlet of Argain, which will welcome you before or after your walk. This is a pleasant short hike with an uphill section that allows you to admire the hillsides of Volvestre against the backdrop of the Pyrenean peaks.
If you prefer circulars, you can return via the small road through the woods rather than going back through the forest. To do this, at the point (6), turn right and follow the road to the chapel.
Cap du Carmil from Col des Marrous in a loop
An aerial loop with numerous panoramic views, in the heart of a magnificent beech forest, with a summit offering an exceptional panorama! Come and see the "blue mountains" at the end of a sunny morning.
Circular via Alzen from Sahuc
Circular in the Alzen National Forest, starting from Sahuc, passing by the Sainte-Croix Chapel and the Col de l'Homme. Cross beautiful forests to reach the Alzen plateau and its many hamlets and farms.
The Massabrac trail
During this hike, you will enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Pyrenees mountain range and views of the Lèze Valley. Across fields, this route on small roads and paths allows you to discover the village's farms. Don't miss the market under the hall on Tuesdays from 5pm to 8pm!
Grésale Loop
This hike is located in the hills above Serres-sur-Arget. It leads to the Fautils pastures and Cap de la Grésale, the highest point of this loop, at 1,112 metres. Most of the route is through forest with wide views of the Séronais, the Pays de Foix, the Massif de Tabe and the Massif de l'Arize. Marked in yellow and very well signposted.
The Chemin du Castéra and Chemin de Monléon in Montesquieu-Volvestre
Starting from the beautiful medieval village of Montesquieu-Volvestre, discover a rural getaway on the paths and ridge roads. After a beautiful climb, you can admire the Pyrenees mountain range from the Castera orientation table. It was made of ceramic by the famous artist Toutain with the children of the village. The peaks of the Pyrenees will hold no more secrets for you! A picnic table awaits you right next to it. The panorama sometimes offers 360° views of the Arize plain and the Volvestre hillsides. At the end of the route, you will quickly follow the wild Arize river.
La Gouzinoise
The Volvestre Intercommunal Tourist Office offers a marked and secure route.
This hike will allow you to discover the Gouzens area between hills and streams. You will see many farms with horses, cows, sheep and goats. The first part is accessible and follows a country road, allowing you to enjoy the sun and views of the fields. The second part passes through hedgerows and forest. It is possible to cut the trail in half by going directly to point 6 from the start.
Le Picou via the Cabane de la Devèze
After a steady climb through the forest, the Cabane de la Devèze offers a welcome rest stop before tackling the last demanding section leading to the ridge. The path along this vast ridge offers exceptional views of the Haute Ariège as well as the sites of Foix and Tarascon-sur-Ariège. After the Picou, the return journey is via the Route Forestière du Calmil, where you can rest from the efforts of the climb while admiring the magnificent trees that populate it.
