Head to Lescure on the D117,the first village after or before Saint-Girons, which is easily accessible from the Mas d'Azil cave via the D119. Park at the school behind the Baure farm in La Plane, on the greenway (section open to cars, easy parking)
(S/E) Head west towards the football pitch along the tarmac road.
(1) After the football pitch, turn immediately left then right to continue on the greenway (ochre gravel). Follow the path for 1.5 km.
(2) Shortly before a second football pitch, leave the greenway on your left until you reach the next crossroads
(3) Turn right and begin the ascent on a tarmac road. Now follow the D59A, also markedPR®®1on the signposts. Continue for about 2.5 km on this same road. Pass the hamlet of Birosse and, after crossing a farm, walk along a hiking trail that is half dirt and half rock to the Birosse farm.
(4) Continue climbing along this main path, enjoying the view of the Pyrenees.
(5) Cross the forest for 1.3 km towards the south-east, following the marked path and ignoring the side paths. You will come to a crossroads.
(6) Here the paths are dirt tracks. Take the one on the left, heading due east, leaving the main path. Climb towards the Col du Clot du Pau.
(7) Continue straight on towards the Col de la Crouzette as indicated on the sign and reach the highest point of this climb at the next crossroads.
(8) Turn left at a right angle and descend steeply to the next crossroads.
(9) Continue straight ahead, still descending steeply, along the dirt track furthest to the left.
Descend to Pujol.
(10) Continue along the road until you reach the next junction.
(11) Descend the hairpin bend on the right to reach Combelongue Abbey.
(12) Turn left towards the small Baup stream and the small bridge on the greenway.
(13) Go under it and take the first path on the left to join the greenway towards Lescure school (S/E).
