It is best to follow the map, as the markings are not continuous and the walk crosses various hiking routes.
Shaded car park in the centre of the village (opposite the post office).
(S/E) Cross the Arize river via a metal bridge at the far end of the car park. Continue straight ahead, climbing up into the village, and when the street ends, turn left. Then walk eastwards until you cross a small stream and, immediately afterwards, turn right towards the fields.
(1) From the end of the street, the route follows a barely marked path through fields, heading south. Follow the path to reach a pretty sunken lane that climbs directly up the hillside (very popular with cows!).
(2) From this point, the path is marked in yellow until the start of the descent. The route climbs gently to reach the ridge. You will first come to a gate, which you do not go through (turn left and continue along the sunken lane). Further on, after about 500 m, turn right at the fork, then after another 500 m, take the main path on the right which climbs gently towards the ridge.
(3) Once you reach this point (viewpoint over Mont Valier), descend to the right along the fence for about a hundred metres, then turn left at the bottom of the field. You will arrive at a plateau: pastures organised around low walls and stone enclosures. It is the perfect place for a picnic with a view to the north (Carla Bayle) and Les Bordes below.
Head west across the fields until you come to a downhill path, which you should take to the right.
(4) At this point, with the ruins overlooking the path in front of you, turn left onto an easy path to continue the descent before you reach them.
(5) A pretty, well-maintained well indicates that you have reached the road. Turn right towards the village of Lagrémounal. In the village, leave the tarmac road and turn left onto a dirt track next to a large farm, which you cross to reach the Arize at Rebaillou.
(6) Cross the Arize via a metal bridge (not the same one you started the walk on). Enter the hamlet and turn right onto the tarmac road.
After walking for about 1 km along a quiet minor road (do not cross the Arize again), you will arrive at the car park in front of the Bordes post office (S/E).
