From the A64, take exit 23 towards Cazères, follow signs for Sainte-Croix-Volvestre then Saint-Girons via the D627. Drive through Montardit then turn left onto the small road leading to Contrazy. Park in the municipal car park.
(S/E) At the top of the car park, take the Bout de la Forêt trail. Join the access road to the Fouque house.
(1) Take the path on the left and continue to the junction with a farm track.
(2) Take this track on the left, following the sign for Bout de la Forêt via the top of Jeanne to reach a ridge. Continue until you reach a junction on the edge of a wooded area.
(3) Continue climbing along the ridge, staying on the track. You will reach a place called Garrousses.
(4) Ignore the access road to Bouinéous on the right, continue straight ahead, then turn left onto a path that avoids Campet. You will reach Bout de la Forêt, the highest point of the hike and of the Volvestre Ariégeois (altitude 698 metres).
(5) Take the track on the left towards La Jeanne. Ignore the two paths leading off to the left.
(6) Descend left onto the forest track (not shown on the map) and arrive at the road.
(7) Descend to the right towards La Bâtisse and the ruins of Mauvezin Castle (not of interest).
(8) At the crossroads, go up the road on the left and continue to the next junction (roads and track).
(9) Turn left onto the forest track going up the Combe des Péries through a beautiful forest. You will reach the edge of the Contrazy-Barthet houses
(10) Descend to the right and continue straight ahead to the car park (S/E).
