Description of the walk

Park in the Sahuc car park.

(S/E) From the car park, head due south to cross the village on the left, then head northwards to the junction of two roads.

(1) Leave the tarmac road on your right and continue straight on towards the hamlet of Murat. Pass it and follow the path, first through a wooded area and then across meadows.

(2) Ignore the return path on the left (passage). Carry on straight ahead, passing a farm in Cambus, then continue towards Lairolle. Just before Lairolle, leave the tarmac access road on your right and continue towards a house standing slightly apart.

(3) Go round this house and take a sloping path through the ferns and then under the trees. You’ll reach aPR® path, which you should follow for just a hundred metres or so, before arriving at a crossroads at elevation 919.
Leave thePR® and head left until you reach a fork in the path.

(4) Leave the well-marked path and turn right, uphill, onto another clearly visible but grassier path, before the first trees.
At the next junction, at elevation 1002, pass a ‘wall’ and head sharply left until you reach another fork.

(5) Leave the return path on your left. Head straight ahead and make your way to the Col de l’Homme.

(6) The walk can continue without any problem, following the signposts to the Col de Blazy.
Turn back to the previous fork.

(5) Carry on to the right, slightly downhill.
Pass a grassy slope on your left and carry on along a wide path (not shown on IGN maps).

(7) Turn right, through the trees, onto a sloping farm track which leads to a track to follow on the left for about 250 metres until you reach the start of a track on the right.

(8) Watch out for this track branching off to the right, leading to a spring catchment. Continue to the right along a path that reaches the area of meadows you passed through on the way out. Cross over, following a track that leads back to the entrance to the field. Make sure you close the gate properly.

(2) Join the track you took on the way there by heading right. Return to the car park via the first tarmac road or by walking back through the hamlet (S/E).

The first part was very pleasant. The second part towards the Col de l’Homme wasn’t great, as the path was completely rutted by logging and there were ‘puddles’ of mud where you sank up to your ankles.
Make sure you follow the route description carefully and not the GPS track, which is incorrect in at least two places on the way back.

A lovely walk with beautiful panoramic views from the ridges; it’s a bit short, so it’s worth extending it to the Col de Marrous (7 km return) to round off this lovely walk, bringing the total distance to 15 km along easy paths

A lovely walk, not particularly difficult, best enjoyed in fine weather so you can make the most of the magnificent views.
Thank you.
