Kruth walks

A beautiful hike in the rear valley of the Thur, near Lake Kruth-Wildenstein, which will take you to the heights of Kruth, with beautiful views of the upper valley and the Rossberg-Thannerhubel massif.

This is a beautiful hike, although quite strenuous, and is reserved for experienced hikers who want to enjoy a great day out, discover the biotope and take in the many views.

This is a must-do circuit for all hiking enthusiasts.

This short family hike takes you up to the ruins of Wildenstein Castle along a discovery trail dotted with information panels. On the way back down, you can walk around the lake and, once you arrive, enjoy the peaceful surroundings with a trip on a pedalo or, for the more energetic, a walk among the trees in the tree-top adventure park right next to the car park.

More of a Sunday stroll than a real hike, this trail around Lake Kruth-Wildenstein, which is accessible to people with disabilities, will give you a breath of fresh air. It is particularly pleasant in summer when it is very hot in the valley.

A circuit mostly on stubble fields. There is little elevation gain, the trails are marked, and there are two farm inns and a restaurant along the way. There are beautiful views from the stubble fields. Many activities other than hiking: summer tobogganing, hang gliding, meals at farm inns, skiing in winter.

Straddling the Haut-Rhin and the Vosges (or Alsace and Lorraine), come and discover this original hike starting from the Col d'Oderen. The fairly steep start is compensated for by the landscapes and superb panoramic views from the Tête de Fellering, as well as the Drumont orientation table.

A beautiful hike with a 360° view of Drumont, without any particular difficulty.

The Drumont is one of the iconic peaks of the Vosges. Although much less well known than the Grand Ballon or the Ballon d'Alsace, it is an ideal spot for lovers of 360° panoramic views. The area is very popular with paragliders. This hike takes you up the Drumont from the Tourbière du See, which is home to a rich natural heritage. The outward journey follows the most direct route and the return journey takes you via the waterfalls and the Saint-Nicolas Chapel. To finish the hike, there are two small hills to climb, which offer views of the Thur valley.

A very beautiful, shaded hike through a magnificent forest of hundred-year-old beech trees, with views of the Chaume des Vintergés and the Chaume du Grand Ventron viewpoint, overlooking the ridges (Markstein, Grand Ballon and Alsace).

Walk on the high moorland via Lauchenkopf, Nonselkopf, Uff Rain and Salzbach.

A walk around Markstein on a typical Vosges ridge. This route has all the ingredients for a great hike in the Vosges mountains, including panoramic views of the peaks and valleys, well-marked trails laid out by the Club Vosgien, including over thatch, and visits to a number of farm inns.

This route in the Hautes Vosges is not difficult and offers beautiful views of the surrounding valleys. There are four places to eat along the way.

From the village of Husseren-Wesserling to Storckensohn, the Chauvelin route is a route for lovers of beautiful landscapes and views. Le Chauvelin, one of whose highest points is the Huselberg (706 m), is an isolated mountain in the heart of the Saint-Amarin valley. This rocky outcrop has withstood the passage of powerful glaciers. This walk takes you back to the time of the glaciers and the pastoralism of our ancestors.

A beautiful hike, done in January. You'll discover the snow-covered ridge road and the ridge trail, which is a pleasure to walk along!

The first half of the route, up to (5), is wooded, which is pleasant in hot weather. The second part, however, follows theGR®5in open country. There are no major difficulties, except perhaps the slightly steep climb to the Col d'Oberlauchen. There are beautiful views during this hike, particularly at the Col d'Oberlauchen, then all along theGR®5and at the summit of the Trehkopft.

A magnificent hike in good weather, starting on wide paths before moving onto slightly more winding mountain trails. The forest is superb, as are the stubble fields of Rouge Gazon.

This is a varied route, as it winds through the forest and the Vosges hills, offering magnificent views of the valleys and surrounding ridges at every turn. The Lac de la Lauch, whose dam dates back to 1894, is as beautiful as ever in its green setting.

With its lake, forests, scree slopes, waterfalls, peat bogs and rushing streams, the bottom of the Florival valley around the Lauch river is home to many wonders. This is a short hike, but it requires a good level of fitness to tackle some steep slopes and tricky sections.

A beautiful hike starting from Saint-Amarin, which will take you to Hochstein, then to Mehrbächel, and back via the Vue des Alpes in Geishouse.

This is a beautiful hike, which can be done in a day, starting from the Ventron-Frére Joseph ski resort. Mostly in the forest, it will allow you to discover the Rochelotte area and the magnificent view from the Tête des Champs. There are three shelters along the route where you can eat and take a break.

A refreshing walk (lots of shade) with mostly gentle slopes in the middle of a beautiful forest. The starting point is Place des Tilleuls, which is also an ideal spot for a picnic.The uphill section has some steep parts, but they are not long. The descent is very gentle. Beautiful views of the forest, the hills, the valleys and the streams.In short, a very pleasant walk.

Start and finish at the Col de Bramont. This route will let you discover the Lac des Corbeaux from the Belvédère de la Roche du Lac 200m above it. The view is stunning and its the perfect place for a snack! A trail takes you down to the lake. It doesn't cross the embankment, but takes you round the lake on a pleasant, shady trail. Return to the Col de Bramont via the Étang de Sèchemer. A very beautiful circuit that's not too difficult, although very steep.

This route is a little way from the La Bresse ski resorts. It is easy up to Lac de Blanchemer, but becomes more challenging as you approach Rainkopf. However, the exceptional panoramic view from the summit makes it well worth the effort.

A lovely little hike with a beautiful view of Lac des Corbeaux and perhaps a welcome swim.

A peaceful walk around a 10-hectare glacial lake surrounded by forest, along a path accessible to pushchairs. Lac des Corbeaux, with its reflections, brings a pleasant feeling of tranquillity and calm, allowing you to savour the moment.

From the Col de la Schlucht, take the ridge road towards Markstein and park in the Maison de la Nature car park by the roadside. This short hike will take you up the steep slopes of Kastelberg and Rainkopf to discover the Altenweiher dam lake before climbing back up to the top of Rainkopf. You can walk around the lake, which takes about 20 minutes extra.

Lac des Corbeaux is a beautiful little mountain lake that attracts many visitors, especially in summer. It is very easy to walk around with the family in an idyllic setting. At the start, the Haut des Bluches campsite also offers superb tree house rentals. A giant zip line also passes right over our heads. In short, it's not to be missed.

A peat bog, a lake and two peaks on the ridges with views of the main Vosges mountains. On clear days, especially in winter, you can see the Black Forest and the Alps.

Where the ridge splits in two, one towards the Grand Ballon and the other towards the Grand Ventron, the Rainkopf offers an exceptional 360° panorama. There are many points of interest along the route, including Lac de Blanchemer and its floating peat bog, Lac de La Lande and its dam, Chaume du Firsmiss, the beautiful Machais peat bog, the glacial cirques and their scree slopes, and views of the Vosges and Alsace peaks and the Fecht and Thur valleys.

A family walk with a quick descent to Lac des Perches but a more gradual return to the starting point at Rouge Gazon.

This is a beautiful, fairly challenging route that will take you to Sternsee (Perch Lake), the Neuweiher lakes through the forest and stubble fields, then to the Col des Charbonniers before returning to Rouge-Gazon. You will be able to admire the view of the Alsace plain and the Alps on several occasions when the weather is fine.

After a steep climb from Mittlach to reach the Herrenberg ridge, you will discover a magnificent panorama of the remarkable peaks of the Vosges: Grand Ballon, Petit Ballon, Hohneck, Rainkopf.

I have named this hike "along the water" because it never leaves you. First in the form of a stream, then a waterfall, then you find it in the form of lakes, from the smallest to the largest, and finally you end the walk along the river that takes you back to your vehicle. A circular walk from Mittlach passing by a beautiful lake in the Southern Vosges mentioned in the Michelin guide: Lac de Fischboedle.

A very beautiful hike, certainly long, but very pleasant from the village of Mittlach towards Hohneck with a short detour via the rock trail. You can still see the tourist spots accessible by vehicle that bring you back to civilisation, but you quickly escape them to find the peace and quiet of the mountains. Please note: this hike is not possible in winter (see practical information below)

This hike will take us on a day-long journey to discover some of the most beautiful lakes in the Vosges, four of which are nestled in remarkable glacial cirques.

Ascent to Kerbholz from Mittlach via the Koepfle Trail. Beautiful view of Hohneck from the Kerbholz Refuge. From there, you reach Lake Altenweiher through a beautiful forest. The lake, surrounded by greenery, is ideal for a break. Then descend to Mittlach via Sapin de Kolben and the Kolbenfecht valley.

This circular, starting from Mittlach at the bottom of the Munster Valley, is undoubtedly the most alpine in the Vosges. Shortly after Mittlach, the entrance to the Wormsa glacial valley sets the tone and offers unique panoramic views of the Hautes Vosges peaks. The highlight of this route is the majestic Frankenthal cirque, the Martinswand rocks and the daunting climb to the Col du Fallimont.This is a circular for experienced hikers or hikers who are not afraid of suffering, or both. It is long, challenging but absolutely stunning.

Second stage of this hike with bivouac. This time, Lac Lalande, Lac de Retournemer, Cascade Charlemagne and Cascade de Retournemer will be on your route, allowing you to discover magnificent colours.

A short walk that allows you to discover a magnificent lake covering an area of approximately 6 hectares, with a floating bog, in a majestic setting at the foot of Rainkof and the ridges that mark the border between the Vosges and Alsace.

This magnificent circular hike starting from La Bresse will allow you to discover an infinite variety of landscapes: Lac des Corbeaux, Étang de Sèchemer, Col de la Vierge, the Roche du Lac viewpoint (after two mountain huts) to reach Col du Brabant and its ski area, and finally head back to La Bresse via a splendid route through the Planot-Paris Arboretum. Classified as difficult solely due to its length: 22 km.

Starting from the Mine d'Argent campsite in Moosch, a beautiful circular route through the beautiful forests of the Vosges. At the Col de Rimbach, there is a beautiful view of the Masevaux valley and the Ballon d'Alsace mountain range. At Belacker, there is a beautiful panorama of the Grand Ballon massif and a beautiful view of the Alsace plain.

Discover a charming little lake of glacial origin, dammed in 1959 to produce electricity. A route that combines beautiful scenery with learning about the power of water.

From La Bresse (centre), this is an easy 6-hour hike around the beautiful Hautes-Vosges valley.

A beautiful getaway in the heights of Bresse and the Chajoux Valley. Superb panoramic views, especially at Les Champis. Lake Lispach, the beautiful Rouge Feigne peat bog, and Grouvelin are the highlights, but every turn in the trails and paths will make you love this picturesque region of the Hautes-Vosges even more.

Beautiful forest and mountain trail from Metzeral to the summit of Hohneck along the magnificent Wormsa valley, beside two lakes and through the impressive Combe du Wormspel, then back to the starting point on the other side of the Wormsa.

A long hike around the third highest peak in the Vosges mountains and the highest in the Vosges department, following six lakes. The route offers beautiful views and all types of terrain (paths, roads, trails, forest, clearings, alpine pastures, etc.). This is a very difficult hike for experienced hikers only (length, duration and significant elevation gain). Not to be attempted in winter; best done in late spring, summer or early autumn.

Discover the Wormsa Valley, created by a Vosges glacier during the Quaternary period. Climb up to the glacial cirque that is home to Lake Fischboedle. From there, you will quickly reach the second lake, Lake Schiessrothried, at the foot of Hohneck. The slightly more technical return journey will take you under the terminal ridge of the Spitzkoepfe and its granite scree. The final descent will take you to the ruins of the old cable car from the First World War.This route is best enjoyed from April to November.

This is a moderately difficult hike from Metzeral to the Ferme-Auberge du Schiessroth via the Gaschney, before descending to the Schiessrothried and Fischboedle lakes. This route avoids a very steep climb from the lakes to the Ferme-Auberge du Schiessroth.

The Wormsa Valley offers spectacular, unspoilt landscapes. Steep trails, waterfalls, rocky cirques and glacial moraines await you on this beautiful walk. A classic in the Vosges mountains.

The first part of the route climbs through the forest before arriving at the Ferme-Auberge du Rothenbrunnen, and the return route to Sondernach offers remarkable views stretching from Schnepfenried to the Hohneck massif.

A very pretty walk in the magnificent Wormsa valley, with its succession of glacial moraine fields, small waterfalls and a succession of wooden footbridges. You reach the pretty little Lac du Fischboedle with its gazebo, then further up the Lac du Schiessrothried. This section has a few technical sections, but the reward is there for the effort. The return journey is easier and takes wide, shady forest paths.

A magnificent walk along the Wormsabach stream and its waterfalls.

Walk along the Vosges ridges down to Lac de la Lande. This walk follows the Hautes Vosges stubble trails among Vosges cows, passing not far from the farmhouse inns of Breitzousen, Fershmuss and Schmargult. Further down, through the shady beech and spruce woods, you reach Lac de la Lande, an ideal spot for a picnic. A beautiful descent! But then a beautiful climb back up!!! Magnificent scenery and lots of flowers to admire in early July... and enjoy tasting local produce at the Steinwasen farm inn...

This varied and challenging loop, winding its way through the stubble fields and forests of the Vosges, offers beautiful views of the lakes and Alsace on one side and Lorraine on the other. You may even be lucky enough to spot some chamois. Hike in the hills above Metzeral, starting from the station, with a gradual climb to Petit-Ballon, before reaching the Steinberg ridge and Grothkopf and descending towards the village via the Brietenbach slope. Throughout the route, you will enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding hills and villages in the valley.

A pretty loop around the heights of Metzeral and Muhlbach with beautiful views of the Grande Vallée, the Vosges ridges and the Hohneck massif. The Kuhfeil lookout offers a breathtaking view of Metzeral. It is also a place of remembrance. Bitter fighting took place here during the Battle of Metzeral in 1915.

This is a relatively accessible hike, taking you from viewpoint to viewpoint to Engelbourg and the Œil de la Sorcière from Bitschwiller, then gently back up along the river on the cycle path.
