Description of the route

Park near the leisure centre.

(S/E) Take the D 27 towards Markstein.

(1) At the junction signposting Schafert on the left, leave the D27 and take the path on the left. Follow this main path, which takes you up to the heights of Kruth.

(2) At the Runsche junction, continue along the path that goes straight ahead. This forest track winds its way through the woods, climbing steadily.

(3) At the gate, turn right. Continue following the signs for the Le Treh farmhouse inn.

(5) Head up towards the farmhouse inn.

(4) To head back down, retrace your steps but this time turn left at the first hairpin bend.

(5) The forest track on the left descends to the village of Oderen.

(6) Once you reach the village, take the A-road on the left, then follow the sign for the VV33 cycle path on the right. Follow the cycle path which crosses the River Thur.

(7) The path takes you back to the Kruth Lake dam.

(8) Cross the lake and go round the Schlossberg on the left to return to the Lake Visitor Centre (S/E).

A two-day walking tour, with an overnight stay near the Auberge du TREH.
Perfect weather, the route was very well explained, no problems at all.
We had breakfast at the inn (cheese platter).
The end of the route is on the road, a 4km walk back to the Krut campsite.
