Gron (Yonne) walks

This lovely route takes you through the charming residential village of Gron, which was under the jurisdiction of Vauluisant Abbey in the 13th century before passing to Sainte-Colombe Abbey in the 16th century. After following the many narrow lanes and local paths, the route climbs up to the heights, offering beautiful views of the Yonne valley and Saint-Étienne Cathedral in Sens on one side, and the Gâtinais on the other. It also follows a short section ofthe GR®213.

Reserved for walkers and cyclists, this easy loop in a calm setting will allow you to explore the Sens vine conservatory comprising more than 600 plants of 30 grape different varieties, before returning via the banks of the Yonne. Along the way, you’ll also find a sports circuit with gym apparatus, and a golf driving range.

This looping route in and around Rosoy takes in the countryside around Sens, alternating between farmland and woodland. It offers beautiful views of the Yonne valley, as well as the city of Sens and its Cathedral of Saint-Étienne, the first Gothic cathedral. There is also a water collection aqueduct. Don't forget that some of the rivers in the Sénonais region supply Paris with drinking water.

This lovely route, which largely follows a cycle path known as the “Coulée Verte”, takes you round the town of Sens. Allotments, Parc du Moulin à Tan, the towpath along the River Yonne: these are all familiar sights to the people of Sens, which walkers will have the chance to discover for themselves.

Reserved for experienced cyclists, this challenging circular route between Sens and Villeneuve-sur-Yonne follows mainly cycle paths and small country lanes and features some steep gradients.

From park to garden, this family-orientated circuit will help you discover the many beautifully maintained green spaces in the city of Sens.

At the heart of a Natura 2000 site, this circuit of just under 1.5 km will take you on a journey to discover this exceptional natural heritage, thanks to nine thematic panels scattered along the route. You can also enjoy a breathtaking view of Sens and its Saint-Étienne Cathedral, as well as the Yonne Valley.

On the heights of Saint-Martin-du-Tertre, you will enjoy the beautiful views along this circuit.

This route, which alternates between sections through woodland, along stream banks and across fields, offers sunshine in autumn and cool shade in summer. It takes us on a journey of discovery through Malay-le-Grand and the Vanne aqueduct. A good opportunity to remember that some of the watercourses in the Sénonais region supply Paris with drinking water.

This lovely route, which runs largely through woodland, presents no major difficulties, despite a fairly steep climb at the start and end of the walk. It offers fine views over the Vanne valley and the Eaux de Paris aqueduct, as well as the Yonne valley, where, against the backdrop of the Côte de Paron and the distinctive silhouette of Sens Cathedral (Saint-Étienne), stands the first Gothic cathedral ever built.

This short circular walk through the countryside, with gentle gradients and lovely sections through the woodland, offers the chance to explore the pleasant residential town of Courtois-sur-Yonne, very close to Sens. The route partly follows theGR® 213 trail (marked in red and white), which links Pont-sur-Yonne to Auxerre and offers beautiful views over the Yonne valley to the north.

Open to all, with free access from 26 May to 21 September, the Chemins d'Artistes 2024 organised by the Ruban Vert allows visitors to admire around forty works by national and local artists, children's works and works of nature.It passes through the Arènes du Bocage, a former chalk quarry that was almost turned into a landfill but was saved by the municipality of Égriselles-le-Bocage and became an open-air theatre. It too has inspired many artists and is set to remain beyond 2024.

This very pleasant route allows you to explore the countryside around Nailly and its castle on a good walk that alternates between woods, undergrowth and fields, the Rû des Salles and its wash house

Section of the Paris–Vézelay Way of St James Two very typical little Burgundian towns, Villeneuve-sur-Yonne and Joigny, which have preserved, amongst other things, some beautiful churches. Beautiful views all along the way (the Yonne valley, the hills, Saint-Julien-du-Sault) This stage can easily be completed using the TER train, which takes you back to your starting point.

This beautiful route, which winds its way through the hills above Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, offers magnificent panoramic views of the town and the Yonne valley. It allows you to explore some of the many hamlets of Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, as well as the town’s quays and ‘promenades’, which follow the line of the old ramparts. The route is signposted with the red and white markings ofthe GR®213for the first part of the walk, then with yellow markings for the rest of the route.

This beautiful route on the hills above Villeneuve takes you through the lands of the Thénard bequest, whose properties were used to provide for orphans. The route follows theGR®213trail and then theGRP® Tour de l’Orvanne trail, and runs mostly through woodland. However, the very beginning and the very end offer lovely views over Villeneuve-sur-Yonne. The sites of the headwaters of the Ru de Bourienne and the Fontaine Rouge are well worth a visit.

This trail takes you on a discovery of Dixmont and Les Bordes via a themed route (marked in green) dedicated to the Resistance; it is dotted with information panels. It recounts the story of the two maquis groups known as “Bourgogne”, which were based in this part of the Othe Forest during the winter and spring of 1944. Walkers will thus learn about the lives and struggles of the maquis fighters, as well as the ‘sedentary’ Resistance fighters, who were numerous in the farms, hamlets and villages.

This easy walk takes you on a journey of discovery through Les Bordes and its hamlets. Above all, it allows you to step back in time to the summer of 1944, to follow in the footsteps of one of the maquis groups known as ‘Bourgogne’. This route, marked in yellow and dotted with historical information panels, recounts the attack of 3 August 1944, the lives and struggles of the maquis fighters, as well as the ‘sedentary’ resistance fighters, who were numerous in the farms, hamlets and villages.

The path reveals the intertwining of the forest and human activities, agricultural enclaves, hamlets, logging areas, always close to the majestic atmosphere of the forest. From the top of these tall trees, centuries contemplate us. It also shows the first impacts of climate change, with dry ponds, emaciated trees and new species. It invites us to give the forest back its freedom to adapt and migrate at its own pace, to let it take control. The trail aims to restore a sense of confidence in what nature and the forest can achieve with and even without us. It is this forest that the Ruban Vert wishes to help migrate to the next forest massifs of the woods and ponds of the Gâtinais in Burgundy.
