A walk along the river between Malay-le-Grand and Maillot

(S/E) Malay-le-Grand Town Hall car park.

On leaving the car park, turn left. Walk past the chancel of the church, then cross the road and turn immediately right onto Rue Marceau. Pass the cul-de-sac on your right and continue in the same direction. At the next junction, turn right onto Rue de Fréparoy to join the path running alongside the village ditch. Head left until you reach the bridge.

(1) Cross the bridge, then turn left to walk round old Malay along the footpaths, keeping to the right of the Vanne. Continue along Rue Victor Hugo as far as the lock.

(2) Take the path on the right, just before the Vanne bridge. Carry on along this path, which runs alongside the Ru de Mondereau for over a kilometre.

(3) At the end of the path (Chemin Rural de l’Ile), turn left, following the route of the Vanne aqueduct (marked at intervals by stone boundary stones).

(4) When you come to a bridge blocked by a gate, take the small, steep path on the right, which descends towards the Vanne and then winds through the woods. Turn left to cross the next bridge.

(5) At the end of the bridge, turn right to rejoin the Chemin Rural des Conches. Continue along this path, which curves to the left.

(6) Just before the junction of Rue des Conches and Rue du Château, take a wide path on the left that stretches across the fields towards the Eaux de Paris water treatment plant. Walk past the plant. Follow the path, which turns sharply right, then shortly afterwards to the left. Continue along this path, which runs alongside the underground Vanne aqueduct, then turns right to join the Route Départementale 146. Cross the road, then turn left towards the entrance to Malay-le-Grand.

(7) Just before the bridge, take the road on the right. About sixty metres further on, turn left onto the path that runs alongside the Vanne, continuing to the Salle des Fêtes in Malay-le-Grand, then turn left onto Rue Carnot.

(8) Cross the street and turn left. Walk a few steps to the bridge over the Vanne, cross it, then turn right. Continue along this road into Rue Pasteur, which curves to the left. A short distance further on, cross another bridge over the Vanne on the right. Walk a few more steps to return to the starting point. (S/E).

For your safety, please avoid using this route during the traditional hunting season from 1 October to 28 February.
When walking through woodland and forests, you must stay on rural paths; entering woodland (even communal woodland) is prohibited. Please take care.

The route crosses private property, for which access has been negotiated with the landowners. Any damage or infringement of property rights may result in the withdrawal of this access and the closure of the walking route. We therefore ask you to observe the following rules:
- use the path only on foot or by mountain bike
- do not leave rubbish or any other unwanted items behind
- Do not picnic, camp, smoke or light fires
- Do not let pets roam freely
- Do not pick any plants.
