Discovering the landscapes around Rosoy

Park in Place Marvageuses, in the car park opposite the church.

(S/E) Opposite the entrance to the cemetery, turn left up the Chemin de la Grande Ruelle. Leave two lanes on your left to continue straight ahead.

(1) At the next junction, turn left onto Chemin Rural des Violettes (tarmac road lined with houses on the left). Leave the first tarmac road on your right and continue straight ahead.

(2) At the end of the Chemin des Violettes tarmac road, turn right onto the Rosoy à Maillot local road without reaching the RD 606 slip road. Keep left at the next junction.

(3) After a few hundred metres, turn right onto the Chemin des Saints Pères path (marked by a stone milestone at the entrance to the path). Walk in this direction until you come to a crossroads with another path. Continue straight ahead along a field, then turn left at the next junction to reach the paintball field.

(4) After the paintball field, fork right onto the municipal road that runs through a wooded area. Turn right onto Chemin des Vaugnants, still in the woods, before the water tanks.

(5) Take the first path on the left down a fairly steep slope towards the pumping station. The route passes over the Cochepies underground water aqueduct, which was completed and brought into service in 1886. The path is blocked by rocks at the entrance and exit and, in places, by wooden posts. At the bottom, climb down the narrow stone steps, then turn left onto the Route de la Charbonnière. Continue along this road until you reach the Charbonnière farm.

(6) After the farm, take the left-hand path (chemin rural de La Charbonnière à Val Péronne).

(7) At the next crossroads, turn right into the woods, taking the chemin rural de Véron aux Fleuris et à Noé, then right again onto the chemin rural de Sens à Dixmont, leaving all the paths on your left. Descend to join the Chemin de Dixmont. Continue along the tarmac road that runs alongside it. It is lined with detached houses and descends gently towards the village.

(8) Take the third turning on the right into the village (route de Véron). After a few steps, turn right onto Place Marvageuses and return to the starting point (S/E).

For your own safety, this route should not be used during the traditional hunting season, from 1 October to 28 February.

Routes through woods and forests must be taken on country lanes; it is forbidden to enter a wood (even a communal one). Please take care.
