Description of the walk

Car park at Place de la Mairie, opposite the church.

(S/E) Go down the stairs, turn right, then turn right again 80 metres further on to reach Rue de la Côte aux Oies. Then continue straight on along Chemin de la Côte aux Oies, past the farm buildings.

(1) Turn right onto the unpaved track, which joins a tarmac road after a few steps. Continue along this road until you reach the roundabout. Cross it carefully, heading towards the industrial estate opposite. Continue straight on to cross the bridge over the railway line.

(2) At the end, turn left and go under the Rocade Sud bridge. After a short walk, turn right onto the path that runs alongside the Étang de Salcys. Walk all the way round the pond on the right-hand side.

(3) At the end of the path, follow a small road to the right. You’ll reach the railway line; walk alongside it on your left. Then, make your way between the railway line and the River Yonne (take care with children, as the line is in use).

(4) Just before the old sewage treatment works, turn left down into a passageway under the railway line and the D72 (keep an eye out for this turn-off). At the exit, climb a few steps to reach a small bridge.

(5) Cross the bridge over a stream. Continue to the left and carefully cross a pedestrian crossing. Take a few more steps to the left and, just before a ‘Stop’ sign, turn right onto Chemin des Loriquets (a tarmac road). Follow the road as it curves first to the right and then to the left, passing by some detached houses. Then follow the dirt track which climbs gently to the left, running alongside a property.

(6) At the next junction, turn left. Carry on straight ahead along this path, heading south and uphill, for over a kilometre.

(7) At the top, at the next junction, turn right onto a path that runs alongside a woodland. Continue along this path, which branches off to the left further on.

(8) At the T-junction, turn left again. The route then curves to the right and heads downhill. At the junction, follow a well-marked path to the right which leads back to the village.

(9) At the first houses, turn left to reach, a few hundred metres further on, the top of the Chemin de la Côte aux Oies.

(1) Turn right and follow the route in the opposite direction to return to the starting point (S/E).
