Châteauneuf-du-Rhône walks

It then leads into the heart of the forest, along small paths to La Croix de Siméon, erected in honour of a monk from Aiguebelle who was a missionary in Africa. Aimed at experienced hikers, this hike also offers panoramic views of Savasse and the Montélimar plain.

This hike to the ruins of Old Allan offers panoramic views of the Rhône Valley between Donzère and Cruas. The first part of the trail alternates between wide, open woodland paths and, halfway along, you will discover the Croix Siméon. The trail then becomes narrower and more winding, remaining shaded and sheltered.

This is a pleasant family walk, the first part of which takes place in the forest and leads to the Monastery of Aiguebelle, located on the loop. The second part leads through heathland and lavender fields to a plateau where the view gradually opens up to Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail, La Lance, the Baronnies and, closer by, the Château de Grignan and the Donjon de Chamaret.

An easy circular for the whole family, starting from the Val des Nymphes site with its 12th-century Romanesque chapel, pond and springs, 2 km from La Garde Adhémar. This circular takes you through a mini Provençal Colorado that will delight children. However, avoid this route after heavy rain (it's slippery!) and during big game hunting season at weekends (wild boar hunts are quite frequent).

From the ancient city to the largest basalt neck in Europe, this beautiful hike takes you along a route with varied terrain: limestone plains, petrified lava blocks and the volcanic plateau of the Coiron Massif. The Sceautres neck, the jewel of the Coiron, is a basalt plug resulting from an eruption 8 million years ago. Cleared by erosion, it rises 150 metres above the valley.

This is an easy hike that alternates between cool woodland and wide open trails on the plateau. You will pass through the hamlet of CÎtelles with its small chapel and waterfall, which is only accessible from above. The return journey follows the stream, where you can take a dip in places. The route crosses the river four times via small bridges or large stones. This is a very pleasant walk in summer, and the breaks by the water are very welcome.

This hike allows us to visit the old village of Savasse, nestled against the mountain, with its beautiful, well-renovated village houses. A climb through the boxwood trees leads to the telephone relay station with a 360° panorama: view of the Rhône valley, the plains of Montélimar and Valence, and the Saôu forest. The return trip is through the woods, with some very fragrant lavender fields in June.

Here, there are no spectacular 360° panoramic views, but you can enjoy a very pleasant walk in the Bois de Laoul forest on wide, easy tracks and pretty, shady, winding paths. There are a succession of ravines, a magnificent and wild balcony path over the Gorges du Rimouren with its superb cliffs, a mule track, and some beautiful views of the Rhône valley from Serre-Court. This is more of a winter walk.

The high point of Basse-Ardèche, this promontory (719 m) offers a beautiful panorama of the Cévennes, Mont Lozère, the Alps, the Baronnies, Mont Ventoux and the Ridge of Montmirail.

A mule track takes you along the bottom of a small cliff to the Bois du Laoul plateau. The route passes through some beautiful basalt columns, crosses the plateau with its superb panoramic views, then descends via a rocky ridge to Roche Chérie: a remnant of the massif's significant volcanic past. The path runs alongside the beautiful basalt columns or Orgues de Bauzon parallel to the Chaix stream, then climbs back up to the plateau where the panoramic views are superb. The descent via a rocky ridge leads to Roche Chérie: a remnant of the massif's significant volcanic past. A small chapel is built against the neck.

There are therefore many tracks, so you will need to remain vigilant if you want to find the well-hidden drystone shelters. In addition to the description, we recommend using the app's GPS.

A pleasant and informative family hike that connects two beautiful villages. Part of the route allows you to discover the history of the TGC (Taulignan-Grignan-Chamaret), a secondary railway line in the Drôme department that was abandoned in 1927. Another part follows the "De truffières en ramière" discovery trail through the countryside around Grignan, with information panels on the natural heritage and human activities in this corner of Provence.

The magnificent little village of Sceautres is nestled against the imposing basalt neck, the remains of a volcanic eruption. This immense block is the lava contained in the volcano's chimney, whose cone has disappeared due to erosion.

Before exploring the narrow streets of the fortified village of Saint-Gervais-sur-Roubion, discover the rich Valdaine plain. You will cross the Ramières du Roubion, a preserved, shaded natural area where biodiversity reigns supreme.

Discover the remains of local history: 11th-century Barquets Chapel, 1852 Martinet aqueduct bridge, Druids' Basin, 19th-century pumping stations, traces of an old quarry and troglodyte dwellings, St-Jean Chapel, ruins of the castle that was once the hideout of the Baron des Adrets.
