Chabeuil walks

Discover Chabeuil, located on one of the roads connecting the Valence plain to the Vercors.

Walk in the hills above Barcelonne to enjoy views of the plain from the tower of the old feudal castle and discover the Sainte-Marguerite Chapel perched above Combovin.

This hike from Combovin takes you around the Vallon de la Cursaye via balconies, ridges and viewpoints over the Vercors, the Rhône Valley and even the Mézenc on a clear day.

This route offers many forest trails and some beautiful views of the Vercors and the Rhône Valley.

If you take this easy walk in spring, you will be charmed by the songs and gurgling of the water in the canals, streams and rivers that you will follow along the way. You will also be able to appreciate the great diversity of species in the vegetation, which is in full bloom at this time of year. An option (an extra half hour round trip) allows you to continue on to the village of Fauconnières.

Short, easy hike around Château Rompu. Walk in the cool air along the Marette, climb in the shade, enjoy beautiful views of the valley, and return via the top of the village. From the viewpoint, you can see Crussol, the Chapel of Sainte-Marguerite, the bell tower of Montélier, etc. with the naked eye. However, a pair of binoculars is a welcome addition.

The Discovery Trail is a walking route that runs alongside the Écoutay River and introduces you to the solar system in miniature, thanks to themed information boards designed by the Beaumont astronomy club, Les Pléiades.

A walk to enjoy with a group or family around the village of Peyrus.

This short hike takes you through beautiful landscapes and lovely trails in the foothills of the Monts du Matin and the pretty village of Peyrus, nestled in the Lierne valley. It is not particularly difficult and is accessible to any walker with good footwear.

The Rancs du Touet cliffs overlook Peyrus and Châteaudouble; this hike takes you around them, climbing the famous Chemin des Moines and Pas du Touet and descending via the Route des Limouches. Beautiful views and varied paths guaranteed! Moderator's note added on 13/09/2021: please note that there are some difficulties in finding the paths on this route: see the comments at the bottom of this page.

This is an easy hike that will allow you to discover the surrounding landscape between the two villages. At times, you will have a panoramic view of the plains and foothills of the Vercors. You will alternate between a few paved roads, fairly wide paths, narrow trails with passages through the undergrowth, meadows, and the Valence Saint-Didier golf course. You will pass through the village of Saint-Didier-de-Charpey and, at the end, you will have the option of climbing to the top of the village of Charpey. Finally, you will walk along part of the Poilus de 1914-1918 footpath between the communes of Saint-Vincent-la-Commanderie and Charpey.

From Peyrus, a varied circuit passing through the Pas de Saint-Vincent and the Pas du Touet. On the upper part of the route, hikers will enjoy views of the Rhône valley, the Ardèche and the Vercors.

A short, wild loop very close to Baume-Cornillane, which can be adapted for a short half-day outing.

Walk in the Cirque de Peyrus along theGR®93trail. Very pretty view of the edge of the Vercors massif (Col des Limouches).

An easy circular starting from Parc de Lorient in Montéléger, walking along the Véore to Beauvallon. Walk around Lac de Beauvallon and return along the Véore.

From the centre of the world (Pangaea) before continental drift, to the Middle Ages, via local legends about the cave that gave the village its name (Baume = cave in Provençal), this is a varied family walk starting from the charming village of La Baume-Cornillane: old stones, hidden paths, stunning landscapes, a stream and a petrifying waterfall (sometimes so petrified that it is dry!) and a remarkable cave.

How about taking a trip back a few million years to find yourself at the centre of the original world (Pangaea)? La Baume-Cornillane claims this location and there are a few information panels at the top of the village explaining it in more detail. The rest of the route will take you up to the heights of Pas de la Croix, then back through the forest to the car park and back to the 21st century.

La Baume Cornillane is an exceptional site due to its geography and history. La Raye is a superb viewpoint: Baronnies, Vercors, Roc de Toulaud, Tête de la Dame and Plateau d'Ambel. The ridges are superb.

Saint-Vincent had a commandery inthe 13th century. "In the footsteps of the Knights Templar" is an easy walk at the foot of the Rochers de Treillaras cliffs, often on the edge of the woods, over gently rolling terrain with beautiful views of the plain.

This route, in tribute to the Poilus of the commune who died in combat in 1914-1918, was created to mark the centenary of the armistice. It will allow you to explore various neighbourhoods of the commune of Saint-Vincent-la-Commanderie where these Poilus lived and to appreciate the beauty of the landscapes at the foot of the Monts du Matin.

Hike to climb to the Cross of Saint-Vincent-la-Commanderie. Circular starting at the Auberge des Templiers (opposite the village church). Half road / half trails.

A balanced hike combining dirt tracks and small roads, taking you from the town hall of Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence to the plateau, surrounded by fields and fruit trees around the INRA estate in Gotheron. Beautiful views of the Ardèche and Vercors.

At the start of this aerial hike, you will encounter some very peaceful Scottish cows. The return journey is along the Crête de la Raye overlooking the Rhône Valley.

The route starts on the banks of the Véore, crosses the village of Étoile-sur-Rhône and then climbs to the heights to see the telegraph, the ancestor of our telecommunications.

Discover the beautiful landscapes of the plateau, from the plain of Châteauneuf-sur-Isère to the cliffs of Vercors, as well as the TGV station seen from above.

On this well-shaded hike, in addition to the various views of the Rhône valley, the Ardèche, the southern Vercors, the Trois Becs and the Saoû forest, we also encountered a young deer enjoying some foliage and a squirrel frightened by our presence. Unfortunately, we also saw the damage caused by the box tree moth.
