Description of the walk

Park either in the village (a few spaces just after the bridge in the centre of the village) or in the car park near the cemetery. Head to the Auberge des Trois Ruisseaux in the centre of the village, the starting point for the hike (signpost: Combovin).

Yellow-red and yellow-green markings

(S/E) Take the Grande Rue north towards Saint-Geney. Ignore all the streets on the right until you reach the intersection with the Chemin de Saint-Geney (signpost for Saint-Geney). Turn right up a slightly steep hill and at the fork at the top of the hill, take the wide path on the right with a beautiful view of Combovin. This becomes a path after about 300 m and follows the ridge more or less. After about 1 km, at a crossroads (signpost), take the path opposite towards Le Relais. Head for the pylon and the track junction just after it (signpost).

Yellow-green markings

(1) Take the track on the right towards Branchet. Look for a large rock a few metres further on in the middle of the path. The path, mostly on a balcony with views of Combovin and the Vallon de la Cursayes, climbs very gradually. After about 1 km, you will come to a fork.

(2) Turn right and continue along the shoulder towards the south. After about 700 m, you will come to another fork.

(3) Continue along the path that veers slightly to the right, still following the yellow and green markings.

(4) Take the path on the right, which runs along the hillside towards the south-west. After about 500 m, the path reaches a grassy terrace. Continue in the same direction, passing some aligned stones and then a crossroads (the path on the left leads to the ruins of La Biousse).

(5) Continue straight ahead along the path that enters the woods. 200 m further on, enjoy the view of the Rocher de Turon, the Pas de Boussière and the Vallon de la Cursayes (cliff, be careful).
The path gradually turns north as it goes around Serre Bochon and reaches a crossroads (not marked on the map) after 600 m.

(6) Continue straight ahead on the main path, which continues to descend northwards. Ignore all the paths that branch off, mainly to the left. After about 1.2 km, you will reach the bottom of Combe Noire (a more or less dry spring), with fields on either side of the path.

(7) Turn decisively into the field on the left, keeping to the right of the hedge of shrubs that borders the stream (usually dry) and reach the road 200 m below. Turn right onto the road and head towards the village of Combovin and the Auberge des Trois Ruisseaux or the car park at the start (S/E).

Refreshments available in Combovin depending on the day and season.
Drinking water is available in the village at the Auberge des Trois Ruisseaux.

Avoid the climb to Serre Bochon in wet weather (steep and slippery path), walking poles are highly recommended!
Be careful from the end of the climb to Serre Bochon until the start of the descent towards (4), as the path is less visible in places (brambles, vegetation).

Worth a visit

Village of Combovin.
Beautiful views of the village, the Rocher de Turon, the Vallon de la Cursayes, the Rhône Valley and the Ardèche.

A very pleasant hike in winter. The return to Combovin is along a very comfortable trail. Worth repeating.

A pleasant hike with some nice little climbs but a gentle descent. Lots of forest trails and GPS is absolutely essential as the markings stop before point 3, which we didn't pass as we must have taken a wrong turn at the scree... but it was still very enjoyable!
The Auberge des 3 Ruisseaux was closed, which was a shame.

A lovely little hike done in March. Although the start is a bit steep, you're well rewarded afterwards. We avoided the climb to Serre Bouchon, which the description didn't encourage. Following the local GR trail markers worked very well.
Note that there is a longer hike (4½ hours), part of which is the same as the Visorando hike and is shown on the sign in the car park.
Other information: the Auberge des 3 Ruisseaux in the village is tempting, so it would be worth planning to stop there during the day.

Good description. I recently joined the Visorando club, and it's true that with the mobile app that lets you view the IGN map, plus detailed explanations and waypoints... you can't really ask for anything better. So thank you all!

Beautiful hike
We took the alternative route at point 4... this route is very pleasant, but we lost the trail markers and got a little lost.
But we quickly found our way back.

Hello,

Here is a slight variation for the return journey. At point 4, instead of turning right to return, I like to continue straight ahead on the path to Obépine (there is a drinking water source with a water filter) and continue on the beautiful path that goes around Rocher de Turon and joins Pas de Boussiere, which descends directly to Combovin.
Here is a video of this route.
