The starting point is the village of Peyrus, at the church.
(S/E) Cross the village heading east (Grande Rue); at the "Peyrus" signpost, head towards Pas du Touet.
Red/white marked section (GR® 93)
After a fork, theGR® crosses the D468 and reaches the Ravin des Chichats.
(1) At Les Chichats, leave the road via a good path on the right. A few hundred metres further on, theGR® joins a track; after a nice straight stretch, when the track splits in two, take the path opposite (Chemin des Moines). After more than an hour of climbing, sometimes more sustained and with a few hairpin bends, you will arrive at Pas du Touet (signpost).
(2) Continue straight ahead towards "Léoncel". The path continues eastwards, winding its way between meadows and box trees to reach the Route de Combe Chaude. Go through the fence (reposition the string behind you).
Unmarked section
(3) Turn right onto the road and proceed with caution. Continue straight ahead on the road until you reach the D68 (Route de Peyrus to Col des Limouches).
(4) Turn right.
On this section, the path follows or crosses the road for over a kilometre. Take great care. The shortcuts may be more or less visible depending on the season and vegetation. If you cannot find them, you can continue along the road (longer route).
(5) In the next left-hand bend, pay attention and take a small path on the right (first hairpin bend).
(6) About 300 m further on, you will come to a well-marked path. Turn right and head for the paragliding take-off area (beautiful view of the Rochers du Ranc). Retrace your steps and rejoin the D68 road. Turn right and continue along the road for about 200 m. Find a second hairpin bend (path more or less visible on the right).
(7) Go through the fence (respect any livestock present, depending on the season) and follow it westwards for about 200 m before turning further south towards the road and the ruins of Gaudemart visible below. Join the road at a left-hand bend; 200 m further on, find a third shortcut on the right (path not very visible).
(8) Take this path and, when you reach the road, take the path opposite leading to the field. Before the fence, you will find the fourth shortcut on the right. A little further on, this shortcut overlooks the road (safety measure to prevent rockfalls). After 400 metres, you will arrive at the road at the orientation table. Walk up the road for about 20 metres to find the start of the fifth cut-off on the left (old wider path, small cairn).
(9) This final switchback joins the road rather abruptly.
(10) Walk up the D68 on the left for a few metres and you will find a good path on the right leading down towards the west. After about 800 m in the woods, you will come to the left of the path (not marked on maps) coming from the Pont des Sarrasins. Continue straight ahead.
Section marked in yellow
(11) About 200 metres further on, at the signpost for "Fontaine du Corbeau", turn right towards "Tourrier" and "Châteaudouble". A few hundred metres before the village, you will come to a junction with the access road to Château Rompu (signpost). Continue downhill. At the signpost for "Tourrier", turn right towards "Peyrot".
Blue/orange marked section
(12) The path goes around the base of Château Rompu: for the first 200 metres, ignore a first path on the right, then on the left. As the path turns east, at the next fork, take the left-hand path.
(13) The path then descends onto a large track: turn left here and head west.
(14) After 500 metres, take the path on the right towards Panaret and pass through this hamlet.
(15) At the next fork, you can take the path on the left to admire the castle, which is about a hundred metres away. Otherwise, turn right. Continue straight ahead and you will reach Peyrus (Rue du Banc du Conseil). (S/E)
