Park in the car park at Chatuzange-le-Goubet cemetery.
(S/E) Cross the Route d'Alixan (D449) and take the small Route Julien Clairefond that branches off diagonally opposite.
(1) At the three-way junction, continue right, after a descent, cross the Ruisseau de Bagnol.
(2) Immediately after, turn left onto Chemin de la Cure, which becomes grassy after a few dozen metres.
After a straight stretch and a right-hand bend, turn left onto Chemin du Portail until you reach the road. Turn right, walk alongside a house and continue straight ahead on Route des 4 Vents.
(3) At the fork, look for a marker post at a place called Le Portail and turn left onto the stony path that climbs towards a pony club. There are beautiful views of the village of Marches in front of the mountain and the Col de Tourniol.
When you reach the paved road, turn left, follow this road for about 200 metres with caution and turn right onto Chemin de Roseaux. Follow this road (old tarmac and gravel) which climbs slightly.
Pass a "sand rock" and continue straight ahead to the village of Marches.
(4) At the roundabout, take the second exit on the right, Rue Charles Ollat, which leads to the Place de l'Église. As soon as you reach this square, turn left, cross the Place Antoine Bertholet and continue along Rue des Estaminets. You will then come out in front of the statue of the Virgin Mary, Notre-Dame-du-Salut, erected in 1950.
(5) Continue to the left of the statue along the rampart walk (there is a short guide on the old railway line), go down the first set of steps and return to the roundabout where you arrived in the village.
(4) Turn right onto Route du Ponant, continue for about 150 m and look for a small path on the right that leads into the woods. Follow this path until you reach the small Chemin des Sables, which is paved despite its name! Join the main road opposite a poultry farm. Turn right onto this road and follow it carefully for 250 m.
(6) At the intersection, opposite the sign for the doctor's surgery, take the grassy path on the left behind a large cypress tree. Follow this grassy path almost straight ahead (at one point it runs alongside private property on the left, surrounded by greenery). Continue until you reach the small road you started on, Julien Clairefond (at the sign for Impasse des Mûres).
(1) Turn right to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
No major difficulties on this hike (at least for me). Beautiful views along the route. I did it in two hours. However, don't bother looking for the "Cabinet médical" sign indicated at point 6 in the "details" tab, as it is no longer there. Take the grassy path just after the cypress tree (which is behind a house with a swimming pool).
a lovely walk. Magnificent view of the Vercors:
