Parking is available in the car park at Place de l'Église, almost opposite the church in Montéléger.
(S/E) Access the Pétochin via a small gate on the south side at the back of the car park. Follow the path on the right along the river to the football pitches.
(1) After the football pitches, cross the road and make a first turn left then right, taking the left bank of the Pétochin.
(2) Reach the banks of the Véore and follow this new river. When the river bends to the right, close to a water intake, leave the path on the left (not marked on the map) and continue to the right along the Véore until you reach the D111 road.
(3) Turn right to cross the river on the road and, just after the bridge, turn right to go up the right bank of the Véore.
(4) Enter Lorient Park (dogs on a lead) still following the river and join the D261.
(5) Turn right, cross the Véore on the road bridge and descend to the right, following the left bank of the river to Pétochin. Follow the right bank of the Pétochin back up to the road.
(1) Continue straight ahead and retrace your steps to Place de l'Église. (S/E).
However, I note that the wooden bridge crossing the Pétochin is not marked on the map, even though it is an important feature. The map only shows a "small bridge crossing a small stream", which is not visible on the route. It is therefore unclear whether this is the bridge crossing the Pétochin marked with yellow markings or something else. Furthermore, the junction of the two streams is invisible on site. Finally, the section from 1 to 6 after the road to reach the car park on the return leg of the route did not seem to correspond to what we saw on site. It is a poorly marked path at the start, which then moves away from the edge of the stream. It then leads to a cornfield, onto a wide grassy track that does not correspond to the direction of the car park. As a result, when in doubt, we turned back and ended up taking the same route as at the start.
so I had to go back to the other side...
