The start is in front of the Auberge des Trois Ruisseaux (several small car parks in the centre of the village).
(S/E) From the Auberge des Trois Ruisseaux, go up the Grande Rue on the right, ignoring the streets on the right until you reach the intersection with the Chemin de Saint-Geneys (signpost).
(1) Turn right. After 100 m, leave the paved road and take the wide path on the right (yellow/green markings). Beautiful view of the village of Combovin.
After about 300 m, the road becomes a path, more or less always on the shoulder. After one kilometre through the woods, you will come to a three-way junction (signpost).
(2) Continue straight ahead towards "Le Relais" and, at the relay tower, take the wide path on the right (large stone in the middle of the path) towards "Branchet" and follow the yellow/green markings.
The path climbs gradually, then continues along a balcony with beautiful views of the valley and the village of Combovin. After about 1 km, you will come to a fork on a small pass.
(3) Take the path on the right (yellow/green markings) heading south-east. This path continues roughly along the ridge and then down the eastern slope. After about 600 m, you will come to another fork.
(4) Do not take the stony path climbing up to the right, even though it is better marked, but take the one on the left (yellow/green markings not very visible on the trees). At the next fork, leave the path descending to the left (leave the yellow/green markings) and continue straight ahead. After about 50 metres, you will reach a pass that looks like a small clearing, with a view of the Rocher de Turon.
(5) Take the path on the left that continues along the hillside towards the south-east. This well-marked path leads to the Pas de Fontfène, the muddy entrance to the pastures indicating the presence of a spring.
Go through the fence and join the tracks of a wide grassy path above in the field, which leads to the shoulder. Admire the view of the foothills of the Vercors (Col des Limouches to the north-east) and the Rocher de Turon. Continue along the shoulder for about 100 metres to reach the south-western slope.
(6) Head right, due west (no trail), into the pastures, which are more or less overgrown with bushes, and reach the ruins of Aubepi and the cattle enclosure. Walk along the left side of the enclosure to reach the carriage road and follow it.
(7) When you see the Pas de Boussière and its viewpoint, you have two options:
- either continue along the path to the D732 and then turn right to reach the Pas de Bouissière.
- or, about 400 m before the road, follow a small path on the right along the fences, reach the Rollands ruins, then turn left to follow the cliffs (be careful) to Pas de Boussière (choice of route and description)
Only choose this option outside grazing periods so as not to disturb the herds. Expect to cross fences just before the pass (barbed wire).
(8) At the pass, go behind the safety barriers to the "Pas de Boussière" signpost and take the path that descends towards "Combovin" marked in yellow/green. After several hairpin bends, when you reach a small pass, cross the D732 with caution and follow the path, still marked in yellow/green, climbing up opposite. The path joins a shoulder and, about 1 km after the road, arrives at a fork.
(9) Take the unmarked path on the left (yellow/green markings crossed out). Continue straight ahead, ignoring the paths on either side, to return to the village via the Chemin de la Montagne and reach the car park where you started (S/E).
