Description of the walk

Park in the car park near the roundabout at the entrance to the village of Peyrus, coming from Valence (water fountain).

(S/E) Take the main road east towards the centre of the village.

(1) At the sign, turn left towards "Croisement de Chabrières". From there, follow the white/red GR® markings. Cross the bridge over the Lierne and continue straight ahead until you reach the road (D68). Cross it carefully and take the path that climbs up opposite, heading north. Follow the GR® signs and join a small road.

(2) Take the tarmac road on the left. Follow it until you reach a crossroads. Turn right onto the road that crosses the Béal de Cors. Climb up to the Col de Toutes Aures.

(3) Leave the white/red markings and take the path that climbs to the right, towards "Toutes Aures". Continue along this path uphill, keeping straight ahead, heading east, ignoring the paths and tracks that branch off to the right and left, until you reach a fork.

(4) Turn right and continue on the path that descends to the south-east.

(5) At the "Le Forage" sign, the path joins a small road. Take it to the right towards "Les Condamines". A little further on, leave the Chemin des Peintres which branches off to the right, and continue straight ahead towards the car park. The road becomes a path again and passes to the left of a house.

(6) At the sign for "Les Condamines", take the path immediately on the right towards "Vachères / Peyrus". From here, the route follows the yellow/red GRP® markings.

(7) The path arrives at some meadows. Be careful, there are no markings at this point. Take the meadow on the left and follow it for about 250 m (with the meadow on your left and the trees on your right). At the end of the meadow, the path enters the forest, where you will find the yellow/red markings again. Follow them to Vachères.

(8) At the "Vachères" signpost, the route joins the GR®93 (white/red markings). Take it on the right and follow these markings until you reach your destination. At a bend in the path, continue straight ahead and take the path that descends and joins a small road. Take it on the left and follow it until you reach the junction with the D68 at Pont de la Pierre.

(9) Turn left for a few metres to cross the road, cross the D68 carefully, and turn right towards Peyrus Centre (Chemin de la Solane). Join the D468 and follow it to the right to reach the village centre and the car park (S/E).

Notes

There is a fountain in the car park at the start.

No particular difficulties, but wear good shoes as the paths are sometimes stony and/or slippery.

Between points (7) and (8), the trail crosses streams. In June, I only encountered a little mud, but I imagine that at other times of year and after heavy rain there may be water.

Worth a visit

In the centre of Peyrus, the façade and balconies of the Hôtel du Commerce and the park are decorated.

The banks of the Lierne are accessible at the bridge (1).

The GR®93 trail starts in Peyrus and joins the Pierre Chauve plateau via the Pas du Touet.

Between (6) and (8) there are views of the Roches de Treillaras.

A lovely walk without much difficulty, beautiful paths through the woods and small woodlands, and a few views of the plains and villages in the distance.
Don't hesitate to stroll through the streets of Peyrus, which hold a few surprises (Art Deco!).
The path between point 6 and point 7 (where you walk along the meadow) could be a little clearer.
