Bâgé-la-Ville walks

As you wander along the quiet, shaded paths, you’ll encounter a succession of magnificent views and gems of the local heritage, such as the Romanesque church of Saint-André-de-Bâgé, the châteaux of Montépin and La Griffonnière, the remains of the ramparts of Bâgé-le-Châtel, the chapel of Aigrefeuille and beautiful country houses nestled in the valleys.

The Pérouse route will allow you to discover an authentic manor house (de la Pérouse) and an old mill alongside which flows the Pérouse leat. Built in half-timbered style, the manor house dates from the16th century. The church at Dommartin is notable for having its chancel facing west. The niche above the doorway houses a 15th-century statue of the Virgin and Child.

Hike through the heart of the village of Sancé and its surrounding countryside to discover the three castles in the commune: Château du Parc (private), Château de Châtenay (private) and Château Lapalus (communal property).

Mountain bike route no. 3, a very pleasant route combining woodland, tarmac and stony paths, running alongside the lake at the La Plaine Tonique leisure centre.A route where walkers, cyclists and horse riders share the path on certain sections.

This route takes you around the Grand Lac de la Plaine Tonique. It is a family-friendly route that does not cross any roads. Green signpost No. 1 is clearly visible.

A lovely route along the paths of sunny Burgundy. Leaving Chaintré, we reach the crests of the mountains, with beautiful views of the Bois de Fée, Mont de Pouilly and La Grange du Bois. Along the way, we come across several fine castles: Château des Rontés, Château de Chasselas, Château de Leynes, Château de Lavérnette.

This walk, with its slight incline, is ideal for stretching your legs if you've got a couple of hours to spare.

From Verzé, in the Haut Mâconnais, this circular route winds its way through vineyards and woods. First, we climb towards Échanault to reach Roche Coche via Champ de la Boivine. The Roche Coche orientation table offers a beautiful view of the Val Lamartine, the Roche de Solutré and, in the distance, the Hauts du Beaujolais. Next, head back up towards Les Bruyères, then descend to Chanaud and turn north-east towards Escolles and Vanzé to return to Verzé.

A magnificent hike starting from Chasselas. You can enjoy the magnificent view of the two rocks, Solutré and Vergisson, from Mont de Pouilly, as well as the beautiful paths of the Grange du Bois. You will discover the wine-growing landscape as well as the fields and forests of the region with the Grange du Bois. A challenging hike that will delight lovers of the great outdoors.

A family hike offering magnificent views of the Mâconnais vineyards and, if the sky is clear, much further afield towards the Mont Blanc Massif.

At the foot of the Roches de Solutré and Vergisson, you can admire the spectacular geology of these two rocky outcrops and their peaks. You will enjoy superb panoramic views of the Beaujolais, the Saône Valley and the Val Lamartine.This long route takes you along theGR®®76 trailthrough the cool forest of the Bois des Bruyères.On the way back, you can admire Chasselas, Mâcon, the Saône Valley and even the Alps from the Grange du Bois and the summit of Mont de Pouilly.

This walk follows the banks of the Saône and passes through the village of Saint-Didier-sur-Chalaronne and the town of Thoissey. You will pass, in particular, the private Château de Challes.

This bucolic hike will take you from hamlet to hamlet around the village of Saint-Étienne-sur-Chalaronne.

From the Azé Caves car park, climb up to Mont Saint-Romain, then take a circular route around Blanot and return via the Étang de Crue. Enjoy a 360° panorama from the roof of the Mont Saint-Romain inn and a beautiful view from the orientation table above the Azé caves.

A hike in Beaujolais through vineyards and forests, starting from Juliénas near Belleville. This hike can be shortened or lengthened (see description).

A lovely circular route along quiet, tarmac-surfaced roads. Very close to Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, so you can round off your outing with a drink on a terrace!

Marked route in the hills above Verzé, between Mâcon and Cluny. Starting from the Rampon quarry, you will cross the woods of Verzé and then climb up to the Croix Montmain. You will follow the Chemin des Chevaliers (GR®) with a magnificent view of the Val Lamartinien and the castle of Berzé-le-Chatel. On the way back, you will cross the hamlet of Les Tardys. The circular route ends with a picturesque path offering views of the pastures.

It is undoubtedly the sand dunes that represent the most striking feature of the Nature Reserve. Shaped 5,000 years ago by the wind, these shifting sands are partially covered in mosses and lichens. Only species adapted to arid environments manage to colonise them. Just a few metres from this desert-like environment lies a waterlogged area stretching over 5 to 6 hectares: a wooded peat bog, the presence of which at an altitude of just 200 metres is surprising. A third, very different environment can be seen not far from there: Étang Fouget, whose surrounding marsh takes the form of a vegetative labyrinth and attracts numerous birds.

Discover the medieval town of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne and its surroundings: passing through the medieval streets and the castle, you will discover the natural area of Prés Gaudet before exploring the Relevant valley, ending with a stroll through the arboretum.

From the 16th-century wayside cross in front of the church to the banks of the Saône, via the hamlet of Flurieux and its little chapel, let yourself be guided along the paths of the village of Mogneneins.

A short family walk with little elevation gain, on roads and paths through the woods, allowing you to walk around the village of Saint-Rémy.

A pleasant, wooded walk, with an optional detour to the Blanot Caves (entrance fee in summer) followed by a stunning viewpoint at Mont Saint-Romain.

A pleasant walk offering beautiful landscapes and viewpoints, between forest and meadows bordered by low dry-stone walls. The steepness is very gradual on the first part of the walk, allowing you to reach the summit of Mont Saint-Romain without any particular difficulty. On the return journey, the slopes are steeper, but never unmanageable. A perfect walk for those who want a good outing but don't want to put too much strain on their legs.

Setting out on this walk means following in the footsteps of the men and women of yesteryear; it means experiencing first-hand what daily life was like in this valley. The hard work required to tame this land can still be felt in the places you pass through: the dry-stone walls lining the paths, built with patience; the wash houses weathered by the laundry so regularly scrubbed; the vines forced to take root in the soil…

A short, slightly challenging circular walk that takes you through vineyards, scrubland and woods from one of the most beautiful villages in the Clunisois region to its highest peak, Mont Saint-Romain, above which you can sometimes spot paragliders on certain days.

A hilly route winding its way between the Clunisois and Mâconnais hills. Between Blanot and Azé, you’ll discover Vaux-sur-Aine and its castle, as well as La Bouzolle with its striking tower, much loved by Sacha Guitry.In any case, this is a somewhat challenging route that requires a bit of stamina and an adventurous spirit. It’s not an easy ride, but it offers its rewards.

A gentle family walk, perfect for a first exploration of the undulating paths of the Clunis region.

A beautiful, undulating route that will take you along a newly marked trail through the municipal woodlands of Blanot, offering some very pretty views, and through the Combe du Nivernais. It continues along the Grison with its old mills before climbing up to Culey and reaching the shade of the woods on the Faitral path, which offers glimpses of the Grosne valley in places.

This walk will take you from the Grison Valley to the Grosne Valley, climbing the slopes of the Bois de la Roche. The narrowness of the former will prepare you for the vast expanse of the latter. History will accompany your every step, with a deanery and castles adorning each of their slopes.

A lovely walk, starting from a well-preserved village with a unique heritage. Here, nothing comes without a bit of effort. You always have to go up before you can come down. But if you give it a go, your steps will take you through the vineyards to the Blanot caves, a protected site which, in winter, is home to small colonies of common pipistrelles and lesser and greater horseshoe bats – species that play a major role in the site’s reputation. The return journey will take you through the shade of the woods.
