The Pérouse route in Bâgé-Dommartin

The Pérouse route will allow you to discover an authentic manor house (de la Pérouse) and an old mill alongside which flows the Pérouse leat.

Built in half-timbered style, the manor house dates from the16th century.
The church at Dommartin is notable for having its chancel facing west. The niche above the doorway houses a 15th-century statue of the Virgin and Child.

Description of the walk

Start at the car park of the Charles Boyer inter-municipal boules ground.

(S/E) With your back to the boules ground, continue to the left and ignore one junction to take the track that follows. It bends first to the right, then to the left, before joining Route de Chevroux.

(1) Continue to the right, then turn left at the Croix Ferrod before turning immediately right, between the houses, onto a track which, further on, first turns right then left to cross the Ruisseau de Loëze, before reaching the Chemin de la Mure.

(2) Keep to the right, then take the first left. Turn right again at the end of the track to join Impasse du Montet, following it to its end.

(3) Turn left, then take the first right to cross the Ruisseau de Loëze and go through a wood. At the crossroads, carry on straight ahead and continue to Grand Larnay.

(4) Carry on along the road to where it ends at the cross.

(5) Keep straight ahead, then turn right immediately, before continuing along a track. Keep right at the junction until you reach Les Escargots: turn left, then right at the exit and follow the road to the sewage treatment plant.

(6) Take the path running alongside the treatment works on the right, which becomes a dead end. At the end of the path, continue left onto Rue du Moulin, then almost directly opposite onto Route du Bois Brulé. Stay on this road until you reach the starting point, passing the church and the cemetery (S/E).

A lovely walk to get back into the swing of things. Very easy – with the GPX file on the GPS, it’s impossible to go wrong. Thank you

A lovely, peaceful route through the fields, well signposted: yellow markings, with plenty of signs and distance markers… brilliant!!
On the downside, though… La Perouse and the mill aren’t on the route… a shame

An easy walk I went on yesterday. The signposting and the small signs indicating directions and distances were clearly visible.
However, the paths were a bit muddy as it had probably rained quite a lot.

Typical Bresse farmhouses.
