Route de l'Arboretum in Bâgé-Dommartin

Start from the town hall in Bâgé-la-Ville and its car park.

(S/E) With the town hall on your right, head towards the street of the same name and follow it upwards. At the roundabout, take the second exit, Route de Cour, and proceed to the junction where the circular route begins.

(1) Turn left to stay on the same road, pass through the hamlet of Charmerlant and keep left until you reach the buildings. There, turn right until you reach the next road, which you should take to the left. At the junction, keep right and take the track that continues from the tarmac road. At the fork, keep left onto the Route des Courbets to reach the houses at Les Chaneyes.

(2) Carry on straight ahead, towards Les Petites Broyères. Ignore a junction and, at the next crossroads, turn right. At the bend, carry on straight ahead along a track, then turn left onto the road towards Les Creuses.

(3) Carry on straight ahead until you reach a woodland near Les Gerbetières. There, turn right to join, on the same side of the road, a signposted path shown on maps. Follow it, keeping to the right, until you reach the Loëze.

(4) Cross the river, then in Villers, turn right onto the Route de Manziat, then take the first left onto Impasse de la Grande Vigne. Continue to the Bâgé-Dommartin arboretum.

(5) Carry on to the next main track. Leave the signposted route, turn right and follow the road that continues from it, until it ends at Onjard.

(6) Turn left onto Route de Pont de Vaux, then right onto Impasse des Mares. This road takes a 90° right-hand bend: go past the building, then turn left onto a track, then right onto a tarmac path. At the Fork in the road, continue downhill, then take the path running at right angles to it until it ends.

(7) Head uphill to the left and keep to the right, towards Niermont Bas. Pass the hamlet, then, at the Fork in the road, turn right to cross the Route de Niermont. Cross the Loëze, then, at the junction, keep left until you reach the buildings at Cour, situated after a sharp right-hand bend.

(8) Head down the track to the left, then climb back up to the next set of buildings. There, turn right until you reach the road. Follow this road down to the right, then, after the stream, take the next track up to the left to reach Les Terres Blanches.

(9) Carry on along the road, then continue straight on until you reach a junction with a track leading downhill to the left: follow this, then take the first right and walk past a sewage treatment plant to reach the crossroads you passed on the way out.

(1) Return to the starting point by following the route in reverse (S/E).
