Description of the walk

Car park at Chevroux Town Hall.

(S/E) With the town hall on your right, continue along the Route de Pont-de-Vaux, then cross the Route de Boissey. You’ll arrive at the foot of the church and its cemetery.

(1) Carry on straight ahead and leave the village. Cross the Leat de l’Étang and arrive at the junction with a cross.

(2) Follow the path to the left. Carry on straight ahead onto the road. Continue until you reach the buildings at Arpent.

(3) Stay on the path, then turn left. Pass an intersection to reach the start of a path on the right. Follow it, heading due south, and cross the fields. You’ll reach its end at a place called Les Teppes.

(4) Turn right at a right angle. Keep to the right at the road and arrive at the Onjard crossroads.

(5) Turn left onto the Route du Pont de Vaux and immediately turn right onto the Route de Lie Longe. Follow the track that continues from the road. Keep left until you enter a wood, then carry on straight ahead to the ruins of Lie Longe and its crossroads.

(6) Carry on along the path on the right. Then go straight on until you reach the road, which you should follow to the right, passing through two open areas separated by a wood.

(7) In the middle of the second open area, at a place called Les Couilleures, turn left onto a path that makes two right-angled bends. Then cross further open areas to reach a crossroads towards Les Sables.

(8) Keep to the right. Cross the stream and, once on the road, follow the edge of the pond. At the corner of the pond, cross the bridge on the right to return to the starting point (S/E).

Part of the route includes a stretch of path near the village, which has been cultivated for about a hundred metres and has therefore been ‘taken over’ by a farmer.

A lovely route to explore the area around Chevroux. The route is not difficult, although there are three points where caution and vigilance are required: the start and finish, which follow the road, and the crossing of the D58 at point 5. There is little shade before you reach the wooded section towards the end of the route. A pleasant route combining tarmac sections with paths through fields and woods.
