Vanxains Circular Loop
Starting from Vanxains, situated on the northern edge of the Forêt de la Double – a village devastated by a hailstorm in June 2022 – this is a lovely walk for the whole family. Route imported from the Randonnées en Dordogne website . This route takes you past hamlets, wash houses, farms and ponds. You’ll be walking through a very peaceful area, along small roads, forest tracks and lovely Périgord paths.
Loop via Eypinal from Saint-Sulpice-de-Roumagnac
A short loop to explore the surroundings of the village of Saint-Sulpice-de-Roumagnac, 8 km from Riberac, with virtually no roads. Peaceful, with little chance of meeting anyone. Good footwear is essential. Walking poles are a bonus.
Échourgnac circular loop
A lovely country walk through unspoilt countryside. Along the way, you will discover the Étangs de la Double ponds, which provide a wild and unspoilt refuge for animals. Take a break at the Cistercian Abbey of Notre-Dame de Bonne Espérance and enjoy the famous "Trappe Échourgnac" cheese.
The Pine Forest Trail in Échourgnac
A trail with the fresh scent of the pine forest, to be explored on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback (watch out for bumps!) at the foot of the Cistercian abbey. A trail featuring puzzles and riddles!
Discovering the ponds of the Double Forest
Passing through pretty little meadows nestled in the forest and along forest paths in the undergrowth, this hike takes you to numerous ponds and shows you the diversity of the landscapes of the Double Forest.

Circular on the heights of Saint-Louis-en-Isle
A lovely walk in the forest. Well shaded, ideal for walks on sunny days. The path is very easy to follow. This route has a slight elevation gain with gentle ascents and descents, making it ideal for a Sunday outing with the family. We completed the route in 1 hour and 15 minutes with a group of adults walking at a leisurely pace.
The Royal Circular Loop in Sourzac
A lovely walk through lush countryside and forest paths in the shade of tall trees. You can admire the Romanesque church of Sourzac, built on a rocky outcrop above the Isle, and the petrifying fountain opposite it. Another treasure lies nearby: the decorated cave of Gabillou (not open to visitors).
The Nicoulou circular starting from Saint-Astier
A lovely, slightly challenging walk (in terms of distance and elevation gain) but well worth the effort. Charming paths through the woods, unobstructed views, beautiful old and modern houses, with uphill, downhill and flat sections!
From Juignac to Maumont Abbey
A beautiful walk through the woods, bread oven, Maumont Abbey and pretty little villages.
La Guirandolle loop in Eygurande-Gardedeuilh
A trail in the heart of the Double Forest that winds through woods and paths, crossed here and there by a small stream. Ponds will appear as you walk along. A very shaded trail, ideal for families as there is little road.
Circular route from Vauclaire to Montpon-Ménestérol
The Vauclaire circular route allows you to discover this place steeped in history. Largely set in woodland, it is a very pleasant walk , but be careful: a few short sections are quite technical. It offers lovely views of the Chartreuse.
Circular walk from Fratteau to Neuvic
The circular route begins gently from the hamlet of Puyastier to the Fratteau fountain, along shaded forest paths, with a lovely view of the noble manor.
Thesecond part of the circular route is largely in open country, ending at the numerous dovecotes in the hamlet of Puyastier.

Valareilh (Vallereuil)
A challenging hike mainly on shaded woodland trails or paths. Beautiful views of the valleys and small hamlets scattered throughout the countryside.
St-Jean and St-Séverin d'Estissac, the Landais Trail and the Bost walk
No major points of interest on this circular route, apart from the charming little church in Saint-Séverin. Peace and quiet, peace and quiet, peace and quiet, and birdsong! A succession of quiet country lanes and fire tracks for the first, longer section. The final stretch between the two villages is more varied. Option to shorten the route.
The two locks from Le Pizou
This route combines history with nature: much of the walk follows the River Isle.
Also worth visiting: the Coly forges, a testament to a major industrial and steel-making industry, and the Monument de la Plaine, a historic site from the Second World War.
