Plombières-lès-Dijon walks

This route, just on the outskirts of Dijon, offers a varied walk alternating between wooded areas, meadows and fields, sometimes at the bottom of a valley or, conversely, across vast plateaus. It provides sweeping views towards Notre-Dame d’Étang or further afield towards Pont-de-Pany, as well as towards Plombières, Talant, Dijon and the nearby Lake Kir. However, this is a route with a significant elevation gain (over 660 m), featuring slopes that are at times quite steep, which can be tricky in wet weather or when there is snow. This walk is good training for longer hikes, so it’s best to approach it with a sporting spirit – though that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the time to appreciate its charms. Between Velars-sur-Ouche and Plombières-les-Dijon, this route largely follows the Sentier Bernard and, in part, the Sentier Sage – two trails signposted by the CAF in Dijon. The GPX track may prove very useful.

A beautiful walk, two-thirds of it shaded, in the countryside at the gateway to Dijon, between Talant and Plombières, between valleys and vineyards, with beautiful views over Talant, the Ouche valley and Mont Afrique in the distance. The incline is reasonable and broken down into three short climbs, making this a very easy and relatively fast walk.

This route is a continuation of the route entitled ‘Les Cabiotes and winegrowers' huts of Hauteville-les-Dijon’. It allows you to discover other aspects of the heritage of this vast plateau. Firstly, the Fort d’Hauteville, which is being given a new lease of life thanks to the Association des Amis du Fort d’Hauteville and the municipality of Hauteville-les-Dijon. It is one of the last military forts to have remained in active service, alongside that of La Motte Giron above the Combe à la Serpent. You’ll discover one of the few lavender fields in the Dijon area, and Darois Aerodrome. Further on, you’ll find the Orée du Bois campsite, followed by a remarkable 19th-century wash house. Then come the two beautiful springs: the Fontaine de la Trouvée and the Chênaux. On the way back, once you’ve returned to the plateau, you’ll be treated to a lovely view of the Dijon plain and, as you pass by, the beautifully restored Rogne spring.

A short route offering unique views of the Combe à la Serpent, following little-used paths. Minimal elevation gain. Don’t always follow the markings (red and yellow); the route sometimes follows them and sometimes veers off.

A short section of the Parcours Batier, allowing you to return to the starting point. This route, created in 1965 by Félix Batier, president of the CAF, is a challenging cycle route running from Dijon to Nuits-Saint-Georges; it is 52 km long and has an elevation gain of 1,998 m, said to be equivalent to that of Mont Blanc.

This circular route allows you to explore the village of Hauteville-lès-Dijon and see the recently restored Ronge fountain and the Chêneaux spring, which is still undergoing restoration. Both springs are sensitive natural areas with protected species. Please respect these species and, in particular, keep your pets away from these areas.

Dijon is a remarkable city, shaped by its history. Since its Gallo-Roman origins (3rd century), three major periods have shaped this city: the Middle Ages, with its churches; then the Valois, Grand Dukes of Burgundy; and the Renaissance, reflected in the splendour of the parliamentarians’ mansions; and Art Nouveau, with its inventive decorations. The aim of this discovery walk is to take you through these different periods.

In our region, there are many stone structures called cadoles, cabotes or cabiotes, which were once used as shelters by farmers. Winegrowers' huts are piles of stones gathered from fields, and a similar structure, murgers, refers to piles of stones left over from clearing fields. The proposed route allows you to discover some of these structures, which have been restored by a local association. You can find out more about their work and explanations on their website, with the participation of the "Sentiers" integration association. This is our small rural heritage. It is important to know about it (and to preserve it), as well as the customs of a bygone era, which have nevertheless shaped our landscapes. In the region, the terms "cadoles" and "cabotes" refer to the same type of construction, often found near vineyards. However, the term "cabiote" is used very locally in the Hauteville-les-Dijon area.

A very short walk in this valley, well known to the people of Dijon. The route is through open woodland on a wide path. There is a long descent, then a return trip with a short, steep climb at the apiary. Very good signposting. Several other routes are available in the area.

A short, easy route in Combe à la Serpent, taking in its main attractions: the Aviators' Memorial, the dry stone apiary, two springs and numerous cadoles. The little path along the Bressey hillside is particularly spectacular!

This route is designed to allow you to discover the vineyards of Dijon, which are located above the Combe à la Serpent or near the Fort de la Motte Giron. In recent years, there has been a real desire to develop a Dijon appellation, and several vineyards have been planted or replanted. This is also an opportunity to enjoy an original route and pass from one valley to another via less frequented paths. This is a short but fairly challenging hike, dotted with heritage sites such as Le Rucher, cadoles (stone huts), Fort de la Motte Giron, the beautiful Combe Persil and its Jardin des Poètes (Poets' Garden), and on the way back, Combe Saint-Joseph and La Bergerie, which is also your starting and finishing point.

A circular route around Gouville Castle takes you along the Vergy path, where you can admire the Combe des Grands Vaux, before returning via a good footpath to the Crosne spring, which flows from a small cliff.

This hike, which includes a steep climb (called the Montée du Ouf by hikers from Dijon), allows you to discover the historic Leuzeu farm, which is very well equipped for hikers, and Mont Afrique, one of the highest points in the Côte d'Or.

Short hike to discover the Fontaine du Naizou and the village of Flavignerot.

This day-long hike allows you to discover the vineyards that will eventually make up the Dijon appellation. You will regularly enjoy beautiful views of the plain or Dijon, but also more mysterious passages in the undergrowth and at the bottom of the valley. It is a varied route rich in heritage, on terrain that can be very different at times.

A lovely walk, starting from Darois along part of the Bouton d’Or trail through the woods, then from Étaules through pleasant countryside overlooking the Dijon region.

A not-too-long walk to explore the three springs on the hillsides to the east of Darois, alternating between the GR®2 and the GR®7.
