Combe à la Serpent Park - The apiary

A very short walk in this valley, well known to the people of Dijon. The route is through open woodland on a wide path. There is a long descent, then a return trip with a short, steep climb at the apiary. Very good signposting. Several other routes are available in the area.

Description of the walk

Park at the side of the small road leading to Plombières-lès-Dijon, which branches off to the right of the D108 coming from Corcelles-les-Monts

(S/E). Enter the estate on the right and walk about 100 metres on flat ground to reach a crossroads with a sign showing a map of the estate. Enjoy reading it.

(1) Leave the path opposite (this will be the return route) and take the path slightly to the right that leads into the undergrowth. Walk for about 600 metres to reach the Combe de la Perrière; at this fork, turn left. There are numerous signs pointing to the apiary. Pass a small pond on your left and continue for about 200 metres.

(2) At the large crossroads, take the wide path on the left that goes uphill, then quickly turn right towards the apiary. The path is wide but the slope is steep. Keep going!

(3) Visit the apiary and read the information provided. Continue climbing and you will see a second dry stone building on your left: visit it and then continue climbing. At the crossroads, turn left. Another building is located a little further up on the left along the path, with its door on the opposite side. Continue until you reach a wide path.

(4) Turn left to reach the first junction with the information sign.

(1) Turn right to return to the car park (S/E).

A pleasant, easy route.
The highlight is discovering the apiaries. Don't hesitate to leave the trail to explore the Cadoles in the undergrowth. (Perfectly signposted.)

We decided to extend this hike by parking at the Hautes-Plates car park (observatory car park).
From there, we reached the Plombières car park and then followed the route planned on Visorando. The additional distance is approximately 4 km round trip. A very pleasant hike.

A lovely little walk, not too difficult. We were lucky enough to see the beekeepers working on the hives, searching for the queen to mark her. They were very friendly and explained their work to us in detail. Many thanks to them.

A pleasant little walk at the top of Combe à la Serpent. We extended the route slightly by going around the En Bessey woods, which allowed us to enjoy some views of Dijon and the Ouche valley. An easy route – thank you to the author of this itinerary!
