A fun hike bordering on mountaineering on a very little-used route leading to the Rocher de Chalves via its southern ridge. You will discover the Ouillon, a monolith clearly visible at the foot of the ridge, before climbing an easy rock face (never exceeding 3c) along the ridge.
Caution: there is a sheer drop below the ridge, so you must proceed slowly and test each hold carefully, as some boulders are ready to tumble down.
The Furon Gorges and the resurgence of the Mermaid Melusine

The Aiguille de Quaix
Ascent of the Aiguille de Quaix from the hamlet of La Jars in Quaix en Chartreuse: a fairly shaded forest route offering magnificent views of the Isère valley from the Aiguille de Quaix.
The ascent of the Aiguille de Quaix requires a climb that can be difficult with heavy boots or for people who are prone to vertigo. However, the view at the foot of the peak, without climbing, is still worth the effort. The hike remains very interesting.

Le Moucherotte starting from Saint-Nizier
Here is another route for climbing Moucherotte, a little more challenging than the one starting from Lans-en-Vercors. The elevation gain is a little greater and the mountain trail requires good footwear. The 360° panorama is just as sublime and the view over the Grenoble basin is just as impressive.

The starting point is on the old Lyon road at the border between Saint-Martin-Le-Vinoux and Grenoble (not far from the Casamaures Village tram stop). The return journey will partly follow the traditional route (towards Porte de France), then branch off through Parc Guy Pape to join the Clémencières road.
Magnificent views of the Belledonne, Vercors and Chartreuse mountain ranges.
Important note: this route is not recommended after a day of rain, as the ground is very slippery.

A beautiful circular loop that climbs up to Moucherotte via the east face (the steepest face) and descends via the ridges, avoiding the busiest paths.

This circuit is unique in that it passes through the "Désert Jean-Jacques Rousseau", worthy of the greatest romantics, climbs up to the Ferme Froussard, a historic site linked to the Resistance, and returns via a viewpoint offering a superb view of Grenoble and its valley.
More challenging access from the town of Fontaine via the "Coup de Sabre"
Ascent to the Bastille de Grenoble from the west
The city has developed the western ascent of the Bastille, which is little known except to a few runners. This ascent is accessible via the Route de Clémencières. The proposed descent takes you back to the Jardin des Dauphins, but you can take another usual route (Fontaine du Lion or Porte Saint-Laurent, or even the Grenoble cable car, nicknamed "les Bulles").The slope is quite steep but safe. You will pass by some unusual views of the valley and the Grottes de Mandrin, a defensive structure of the Bastille's glacis. This hike should not be attempted in rainy weather or up to 24 hours afterwards, as the ground is slippery. The return trip is not recommended.

Loop along the ridges via Charande
Ridge walk from Pas de Bellecombe to La Molière via the highest point of Charande. Numerous viewpoints over the Alps and the Chartreuse.
La Molière circular via the ridges
This is a pleasant route with no real difficulties, apart from the distance and a few steep sections in thefirst third.
Once you reach the ridges (take care if you have young children), you will walk constantly above the plateau with a magnificent view of Grenoble, as well as the Trois Pucelles, Moucherotte, Pic Saint-Michel and Roc Cornafion. The return via the plateau is a formality, where a gourmet stop at the refuge is a must.

From Pas de l'Ours to La Molière from Autrans
From the hamlet of Le Truc at the north-eastern entrance to the village of Autrans, you can access La Molière mountain and discover the Isère valley and the city of Grenoble through a gap in the mountain. Higher up, you will see all the mountains surrounding Grenoble and its region. Don't look for the "pas" (step) of the bear as a paw print because, here as is often the case in the mountains, "pas" is a diminutive of "passage" (passage).
Tour of the Grand Ratz plateau
A beautiful loop around the Grand Ratz, passing by the Roche Brune viewpoint with its breathtaking view of the Isère valley.
The Bastille and Mont Jalla, from the city to the mountains
Grenoble, capital of the Alps, is well known. Climbing 400 metres from the centre of the city reputed to be the flattest in France is less common. We suggest a slightly challenging walk to the military memorial on Mont Jalla and, on the way back, discovering the "380 steps".
The Charande Ridge from Autrans
A nice walk which enjoys the shade of the trees for the uphill section. As described the Charande ridge is walked from North to South as this gives better views. The Refuge des Feneys makes for a nice place to stop. This walk descends from Pas de Bellecombe, but you could descend earlier if you wanted to; see notes.
The Autrans waterfall
This is an easy and well-known hike in Autrans. The advantage of this hike is that you can start in the middle, at point (5), and shorten it by about 1 km at point (9). It's perfect for those with shorter legs! You'll see Autrans from a different perspective than from the ridges. Please note that the waterfall has a very low flow in dry weather, or even no flow at all. However, the charm of this place, combined with the forest walk, will delight you. Hike suggested by the local tourist office.
The Charande ridges from Autrans via Le Relais
An invigorating and challenging hike that alternates between woodland and ridge trails with views of both sides of the mountain.
The ski jumps through the Bois du Claret
A short hike in terms of distance, but challenging on the best part. The view is well worth the effort!
The Bruyant Gorges and the Pas de la Bergère
Bucolic walk along the Bruyant, at the bottom of the gorges, before reaching the Moucherotte ridges via the Pas de la Bergère, which can be difficult in wet weather.
Do this in this direction as the descent via the Pas de la Bergère can be difficult or even dangerous after rain.
300 m below the Cabane des Ramées (south), a path on the left in a meadow (cairn) leads to the Trou St Michel, a cave that emerges from the cliff (incorrectly located on the map)
Between Bruyant and Furon
Short hike in the Bruyant Gorges, with a beautiful view of the Furon Gorges at the Bec de l'Aigle.
Rochebrune
This low peak and its twin opposite on the Vercors side, the Dent de Moirans, watch over the exit of the Isère as it flows quietly towards the Rhône and the entrance of rain and snow clouds pushed by the north winds. A remarkable viewpoint over the valleys, it is an ideal half-day walk.
Belvédère du Bec de l'Aigle via the Bruyant Gorges
This hike, which runs alongside the Furon and the Bruyant Gorges, will refresh you and take you to the Bec de l'Aigle viewpoint, where you can enjoy a remarkable view.
Comboire viewpoint
This is a short, easy hike on the outskirts of Grenoble, accessible by TAG bus, which will give you a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
La Grande Sure via the Col d'Hurtière
An unmissable walk near Grenoble.
Despite the crowds during these last beautiful days of autumn, we were able to avoid the rush (except on the climb to the summit).
Charmant Som via Pré Batard
This pretty circular starting from the Col de la Charmette allows you to climb the Charmant Som via a fairly uncrowded route (but you won't avoid the crowds at the summit...). The final climb up a chimney requires caution, but does not present any particular difficulties.
La Grande Sure circular starting from the Col de la Charmette
Magnificent view of the Chartreuse and the plain from the summit of the Grande Sure. The first part, from the car park to the summit of the Grande Sure, is the most difficult with scree. The descent from the summit to the Col de la Vache must be undertaken with caution. The rest is easier. The return after the Col d'Hurtières is through the woods.
Grande Sure from Col de la Charmette
A fairly easy route to reach this summit in the Chartreuse mountains. However, the final ascent requires a bit of energy.
At Col de la Sure, you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the mountain pastures.
La Grande Sure via the Cols de la Vache
A magnificent loop starting from the Chalet de la Charmette, via the Col de la Grande Vache and Col de la Petite Vache.
An aerial walk with breathtaking views.
Loop under the Grande Sure
A magnificent, easy walk suitable for young walkers. Magnificent views and an area where you are likely to encounter mouflons and chamois! The passage through the Goulet d'Hurtières is pleasant and less frequented than the other paths leading to the Grande Sure.
Ri d'Olon loop
A pleasant walk along the Ri d'Olon stream and then through walnut plantations. The first part of the route is through the woods and the second part is in the shade of walnut trees. This walk is suitable for young children and even pushchairs.
