Departure from the small car park in the hamlet of Fournel, in the commune of Engins. Please note: do not park in the large car park used as a turning area for buses, but in the car park 50 metres further on.
(S/E) Take the paved road on the left that leads to the houses at the top of the hamlet.
Continue to the crossroads.
(1) Ignore the path on the left and take the correct track on the right marked JV (Yellow-Green) leading to the Sornin mountain chalets. Continue along this track, ignoring all the paths and tracks you come across, heading straight north. Come out of the forest onto the mountain pasture before the chalets and you will soon reach the Sornin chalets.
(2) Head north-east and, keeping in this direction, follow the wide track that leads to a crossroads marked by a Vercors sign (these signs are posts approximately 1.20 metres high with yellow directional signs: at the top, the sign is green and bears the name of the place and its altitude).
(3) Continue north for a few dozen metres until you reach the large electricity pylon that marks the summit of the Dent du Loup.
(4) Return to the previous crossroads.
(3) Take the path on the right. In the mountain pasture, reach the Cabane du Berger.
(5) Start the connecting route to the Sornin chalets by following the sheep drovers' roads and staying above the woods. Go around them.
(6) Start a steep descent here. Join a wide path that crosses the track you took on the way up just before the chalets. Turn right and head towards the chalets.
(2) Do not take the path you took on the way up, but head south-west along the forest track. At the next crossroads, keep left on this track, which is now marked RB (red and white), this is theGR®9. The route heads south and, along this wide track, a steep descent leads to the major crossroads of La Croisette (6 possible directions).
(7) Leave theGR®9and take the path marked JV (Yellow-Green) on the left. Be very careful here and do not take the path on the right, which is much more visible. Descend into the forest, cross a small mountain pasture and re-enter the forest. After a final steep slope, you will arrive at the starting point.
(1) Take the road and you will quickly reach the car park (S/E).
i really enjoyed this hike, beautiful views, it's definitely worth discovering.
