Depart from the Place de la Fontaine des Gabets between the hamlets of Le Bouchet and Le Truc (car park on the square near the site dedicated to horse work).
(S/E) Take the Guinchet road uphill. Continue for 800 metres until you find a path on the right signposted "Pas de l'Ours".
(1). Take this path and continue to the edge of the forest. At the first intersection, turn left.
(2) When you reach the four-way intersection, take the road opposite, following the yellow and green signs, and continue until you reach "Pas de l'Ours".
(3) At this point, before a rather steep climb, leave this fairly wide path and turn left onto the mule track, which is still marked in yellow and green.
(4) Halfway along, cross the Sure forest road at the Col de la Croix Perrin. Continue through the coniferous forest to reach Pas de l'Ours.
(5) Head back towards La Molière, following the ridge to the north. For much of the way, you will have a bird's eye view of the Molière mountain pastures with their rich variety of flora and fauna. Pass the summit of Charande.
(6) When you reach La Molière, stop to take a look at the orientation table.
Head west on the forest road towards the Feneys lodge.
(7) Pass the lodge on your left and continue along this road until you see the sign for Les Combettes.
(8). Take the path on the right and descend to the edge of the forest.
(9) At the crossroads, take the left-hand path. Continue along the edge of the forest on your left. This path ends at a wider road. Turn right and continue for about 600 metres.
(10) At this point, turn left and then rejoin a fork in the road that you passed on the way there.
(2) Turn right twice and rejoin the road you started on.
(1) Turn left at the crossroads to return to Place de la Fontaine des Gabets (S/E).
Nice hike with beautiful weather and stunning views of the Écrins massif, Oisans and Mont Blanc.
