Mhère walks

This route takes you on a journey of discovery through the village of Mhère, its landscapes and its rich heritage.It’s an opportunity to discover the Notre-Dame du Morvan Chapel, situated at an altitude of 554 metres on top of a hill with a superb panoramic view. It overlooks the surrounding regions and the village of Mhère. One of the hills visible from here is nicknamed ‘the crocodile’.

A hike through varied scenery: fields, pine forest, woodland, stream, and an orientation table with a panoramic view of the Morvan from the Chapelle du Banquet. A printed version of the route is available at the Ouroux-en-Morvan Tourist Office.

In Montigny-en-Morvan, there are several hikes. We did a combination of two hikes: Les rives du Petit Lac (12km) and Les Rives de Pannecière (8km).

Immerse yourself in the heart of the Morvan – a historical journey awaits you! This circular route reveals two fascinating eras. Start on the legendary Roman road, trodden by thousands of travellers 2,000 years ago, linking Ouroux-en-Morvan to Razou station. Imagine the carts, the legionaries, the hustle and bustle of that distant era. Then, time speeds up: here you are following in the footsteps of the Tacot, that picturesque train that criss-crossed the Morvan from 1901 to 1939. Picture scenes of daily life, the lively exchanges in the stations, the whistle of the Tacot echoing through the valleys. Beneath your feet, the ancient cobblestones, the remains of the sleepers and the ballast bear witness to those bygone eras. Feel the history, the palpable emotion of these places steeped in memory. This unforgettable immersion transports you into the Morvan’s past, a journey out of time, an adventure with every step.

Let's go back in time to 2008, when the commune of Ouroux-en-Morvan was the geographical centre of the Eurozone. This distinction was calculated by the Institut Géographique National (IGN). The exact point was located in the Bondy forest. However, the centre of the Eurozone changes with the accession of new member countries. Each new accession to the euro zone shifts this central point. Thus, in 2009, with the entry of Slovakia, the centre moved to Liernais, in Côte-d'Or. This "European point" is represented by a piece of granite, and along the route you will find signs explaining the role of the Eurozone.

This circular allows you to see some of the region's mills that are no longer in operation, in the commune of Ouroux-en-Morvan. It will also allow you to discover some of the commune's hamlets.

The first part of this route allows you to discover part of the commune of Ouroux-en-Morvan, passing through the hamlet of Le Plessis, then Savelot. The second part of the route takes you along the Chemin du Tacot, a single track road that ran from Corbigny to Seaulieu. You will pass the old Cœuzon station and the bridge-tunnel over the Chalaux river. You will also have the opportunity to see an almost identical full-size replica of the old Tacot locomotive. You will continue under arches covered in vegetation and finish by walking alongside the Étang d'Ouroux lake. In front of the village hall, you can also admire the blue carriage, which is unique in that it has the same metre gauge as the Tacot.

A short walk to discover Ouroux-en-Morvan, its pond and wetlands, its village and its history. Suitable for all, this pleasant stroll will delight the whole family.

This circular route will take you through varied landscapes where you will encounter water as you cross the Chalaux, stop near the Étang des Vernois, pass along the Lac de Chaumeçon and numerous small streams, which you will sometimes have to jump over! You will also pass through several hamlets. The route alternates between woodland and more open passages. The hike can be done in either direction. Apart from the first 200 metres on the D6, the hike only takes you along small, generally quiet local roads and paths.

This loop hike takes you from the forested areas west of Brassy to the more open countryside around Gâcogne and Vauclaix, with open views towards Lormes and Corbigeois. No refreshments en route, unless you make a diversion via the market town of Gâcogne - check by telephone beforehand that the inn is open. Can also be done from Lavault or Vauclaix. The climbs are shadier in the recommended direction.

A lovely hike in the footsteps of the Maquis, alternating between hedged farmland and forest, with beautiful panoramic views, especially of Lac de Pannecière.

Of the 7 large lakes in the Morvan, all of which flow into the Yonne River via various tributaries, this one, fed by the Chalaux, feeds the Crescent Reservoir. The water collected along the way is added to the Cure. This system helps to regulate the Yonne, the 'enfant terrible' of the Seine, as the people of Icaunais like to call it.

Ah, the Morvan! Some people call the mountains of the Morvan uplands "molehills", and while they're not very tall on this route, they do know how to tire the calves.Hiking through forests of Douglas fir, beech and other hardwoods on sandy or granite paths, with or without plant cover, but with prevalent animal and plant life, offering some very fine views from these hills with their unique horizons.

A short walk around the Étang du Goulot pond, located in the village of Lormes. This is an easy walk on a well-maintained path: simply follow the path around the lake. There are picnic tables, benches, deckchairs and a fitness trail.

A refreshing little walk to enjoy with the family at the end of the afternoon!

An easy route visiting the Narvau Gorges and Waterfall, several ponds, beautiful forests, and a few fields and pastures. We will finish with a visit to the church and the panoramic viewpoint of Mont Saint-Alban.Requires a good sense of direction and, if possible, the use of the GPX track.

This circular route runs alongside part of Lake Pannecière before climbing up to the ridges, offering fine views of the Morvan hills, before descending through woodland to the part of the lake where the Yonne flows into it. It passes close to a developed rocky outcrop offering superb views of Château-Chinon and the Morvan hills.

A superb walk between the lake’s banks and the hills above via the road, with plenty of shaded spots to take a break or go for a swim. The route forms a circular loop: you can therefore do both sections or just one, as you prefer.
