Description of the walk

(S/E) From the town hall, walk up towards Saint-Germain Church and pass in front of the Le Lion d'Or hotel/restaurant. Take the first road on the left, just after the establishment, and walk down to the viewpoint.

(1) Turn left towards Jallois. At the end of the road, turn right and take the hiking trail on the left.

(2) At Route de la Vallée, take the road opposite. At the next crossroads, turn left and then immediately right before continuing along the road. Continue along the path and, at the bottom, you will find the entrance to Moulin des Vernes on the right.

(3) Go up to the left towards Courgermain.

(4) Leaving the path, cross the Route de Montpenssy by turning right/left to go up towards the main road. Follow it to the left for about 40 metres and turn right onto the path.

(5) At the next intersection, turn left towards La Loutière. Cross and continue straight ahead towards Poirot Dessous. At the intersection with Route de la Loutière, turn right and cross Poirot Dessous.

(6) Before the last house on the left, take the path that climbs to the left to Poirot dessus.

(7) In the centre of the hamlet, turn right onto Route de l'Hortensia. Turn right at the bend. After leaving the hamlet, you will reach a crossroads.

(8) Take the first road on the left. Cross the Route de Planchez (D17) and follow the road opposite. At the next intersection, turn right onto the road (D17).

(9) Follow it to the left until the bend, just after the last house in Champvert.

(10) Follow the path on the left and continue straight ahead to the Moulin de Chicot.

(11) Take the first path on the left just after the mill and continue straight ahead. A footbridge allows you to cross the Chalaux and continue to Cœuson.

(12) When you reach Route du Dr Martell, turn right twice and continue straight ahead.

(13) When you reach the wash house, take the path that goes down to the left. At the fork, continue straight ahead towards Moulin de Savelot.

(14) Take the first path on the left after passing the house, then turn left towards Le Plessis.

(15) Cross Le Plessis and continue straight ahead.

(16) Cross the Montsauche road and take the path opposite, which runs diagonally. Continue straight ahead and enter Ouroux-en-Morvan.

(17) Take Avenue Michel Baroin, pass in front of the Étang d'Ouroux and continue up to the town hall of Ouroux-en-Morvan (S/E).

Notes

You will find free parking right next to the town hall and on either side of the village hall.
Standard walking gear should be sufficient for the walk on offer.
A few important points to remember:

  • it is advisable to keep your dogs on a leash on public roads during the walk. Keep them close by on the paths.
  • Make sure your shoes provide good ankle support. It is advisable to have a walking stick and to ensure that your shoes are waterproof, as some parts of the route can be quite wet depending on the season.

Worth a visit

Not far from the town hall, visit the Church of Saint-Germain. When you arrive at the Ouroux village hall, take the time to admire the blue metre-gauge railway carriage.
